LAN Issues on Vista All Else Running 100% Perfectly

Alright guys, I'm new to the LAN scene on dune2k and thanks to these forums I got the game working on vista 64 so, if you need help in that respect, surely I can offer some advice. However; and please tell me if this normal and I'm just an idiot, but whenever I start a LAN game all goes smoothly, however, when I try to move my vehicles around they are VERY slow and terribly laggy, not smooth like in-game play should be. Here are my specs: Vista 64 Home, Onboard Geforce 8300, etc. etc.

Alright, thanks I will try that. However, I was trying to solve the issue in a different manner and now I can't see my partner whenever he joins the lobby? I'm using a linksys router/cable modem setup. Any tips? I've searched the forums and google on both issues but nothing is related to my difficulties.

I had already looked through that. He just had a firmware issue my router is all up-to-date. I really wish these old games weren't so difficult to deal with..I'd rather not have a 20 year old junker that weighs 100 pounds sitting on my desk either. But, it's awesome that there are such quick responses. They are much appreciated.  :)
