I'm currently using Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2. My Optiarc DVD-RW AD-7530B no longer reads any discs. It seems that the disc doesn't even spin when in the drive. It's as silent as it is when the tray is closed with no disc inside.

This happened after re-ripping about 80 albums to 320 kbps on iTunes at one go. However it was fine throughout the ripping, only showing problems the next day after restarting the computer (I discovered the problem after about keeping the computer switched off for a good 10 hours or so). I'm not too sure if the drive has "burnt out" or anything.

Anyone with help?

Could be the OS or drivers. Maybe try getting an ubuntu (or any linux) livecd and see if it will boot off that? If that fails, then at least that rules out OS/drivers and probably hardware problem.

I've gotten it fixed through warranty. It turns out to be a hardware issue, as by the time I got it to the shop the drive was not even receiving power. It's fine after getting it changed. Thanks!
