Recently I saw the story about the debate going about making a free trade agreement with South Korea for Canada. The biggest opposition to the agreement is the big three automakers who afraid of losing the market to Korean cars. So what is your opinion should Canada just abandon the big three or should it reconsider the agreement.

I did not know about this. Seems that the US is trying something similar with them.

I find it funny that in the 1980s or whenever the Japanese were a threat, the government only allowed so many imports into Canada/USA, but eventually that went away. link

As long as the product meets Canadian standards I'm all for it. If the big three can not compete screw them. They are pretty much dead anyway, and the unions are killing them. Chrysler just cut 12,000 jobs. The high Canadian dollar wont help Canada's auto exports.

Hopefully working conditions in South Korea are good based upon their countries standards, but then if you are building cars, the quality would have to be good.
