How to get a gmail account to work on msn messenger

I got a gmail account for my brother and want to set it up so it works on msn messenger (or miranda msn network protocol, same thing).

I type in the email and password, but then it says name does not exist or password is wrong.

I know it can work, as I have contacts not using a hotmail account (one using gmail).

Why isn't it connecting?

you first need to assosiate it with a MSN network passport.

Just sign up for a new account with messenger.msn.com, you get this page. Select the option of usign your current email.
