Took you a long time to install, hope its not the slow computer ! :P

Yeah, go through those missions, learn the basics, and be happy knowing we are online waiting for you.

If in the mean time you want some help and advice on how to do the single player modes, just check out the Strategy section of the Emperor: Battle for Dune boards and post a question if you cant find your answer there !

See you around !

but it is a good way of learning about units, what they are called, how to control them, which combinations they work well in, how to build, how to upgrade, etc...

Once you graduate from single player, you can come online and play there. Of course, you can jump in online straight away, but you might find it daunting and off-putting.

It is of course, up to you !  8)

Effaermon. Do the campaing on easy, medium and hard if you can or atleast do all 3 houses on medium so then you get a good feel on all the houses. This way you won't get screwed up when you come online.

After all the campaing is like a tutorial to online gaming isn't it! ;)

idk thats almost like saying once you learn the alphabet you can pick up a copy of war and piece and be able to read it.

When I first picked up the game, the AI was one thing, but the game play online was like AI x 100. It was like ftw?!

Yes your quite right, it is hehe. And if he wants to get somewhere he's gotta learn things weather they be hard or medium and no not easy lol. :P

And I'm sure you did something about this AIx100 issue as in to counter it and learn from it!

DjCid your not suggesting that the in-game tutorial itself is gonna help him are you? ::)

nope not a bit, all it does it get you familar with the units of the houses/sub.

after you know the units ditch the AI games and get online. If not you'll fall behind when online. The BO and strats used in the tutorial/single player missions is nothing like that of the online experts. Play around with the tut and SP missions till you know what units do what, then get your arse on the sand.

How did you work that one out? Fall behind?

All we want is for him to know the basics in combat, not waste time on it. Remember it's the campaign we are talking about so it will bound to take time on him before he would come online.

It would take time to get to know units to its best with combos, especially when you are new.

He won't fall behind as it would just be a matter of getting him up to our level of play once he knows the basics.

As everyone says "DO THE CAMPAIGN WITH ALL THE HOUSES AND UNITS FIRST THEN COME ONLINE." 8)

P.S. would everyone want effaermon to ditch the AI games even after getting online?

Could you read it without learning the alphabet ?  ::)

Lets ask Effaermon himself! ARE you going to come online right away after just learning the units

OR

are you going to do the long campaigns and there missions to help you have a more strategical point of veiw to online gaming?

I'm gonna go through the campaigns first...the cut scenes are fairly well done, even considering the age of this game.  I didn't think this game would grip, or challenge for that matter, me in the way that it has...I'm still sitting on some other old purchases, heh.

With that said, thank ya for the replies and welcome :)

Only problem is there is no intermeditate level in emperor, its offline or online.

Eff, when you do all the campaigns come here and get the AI patch to make the computer harder.

and I think were saying the same thing in different ways...

point blank - yes you need to know the units, but dont expect the tutorial to give you online skills. you need online games for that. so... once you know the units get online.

But we differ about how to get that basic understanding. You say just learn the names and types and jump online, and we say learn as much as possible by doing the campaigns.

But yes, we do both agree the onilne world is very different in terms of difficulty...
