Firefox download managers/GetRight

Is there any way I can get Firefox to pause and resume downloads between uses?  I can pause downloads, but if I close Firefox, all that information is lost.

If not, is GetRight still as reliable/spyware-free as it was back in the day, or is there soemthing better?

There is something better.

Get Flashgot extension for firefox, and then use free download manager.

It works great for big files and has a resume function.

In firefox all you do click on the download link or whatever like you normally do and when the download box pops up to ask you what to do, select flashgot option.

What makes this Free Download Manager better than Getright, exactly?

Oh, nothing that I know of. I used Getright about 5 years ago, havn't used it since. Maybe they updated it :P.

Use whatever download program you like. :)
