This is a great film.

It is about Melvin Van Peebles, and his attempts and success in making an underground film that articulates the black experiance. By the way, Melvin is the father of the actor Mario Van Peebles. This film is so well shot, and so creative that it just draws you to it from the beginning. It really shows the creative process, and how a film works. Usually films about films dont show much about how the filmmaking process works, but this does. It shows how hard it is to find money, how difficult it is to aquire actors, how the unions are practically impossible to get past, and how hollywood is an all-around dictatorship.

Melvin wanted to show the black experiance, albiet a little skewed for entertainment factors, and is considered the father of all fathers of "blacksploitation" films. It also heralded the american independant film movement. It is just such a well made and well written movie, and Mario Van Peebles is a wonderful actor! It is edgy and controversial, yet at the same time holds up with great charm and intelligence.

I would ahve to say this is one of the best films of the year. I thought it was wonderful all around.

Have any of you seen it? if so what did oyu think?

If you havent seen it, I highly suggest seeing it! it is a wonderful flick. :)
