As I said there's a difference between the forming of the EU comission and that of national governments. In the latter you would never see christian democrats, socialists, libertarians represented all at the same time, because usually 2 cooperating parties form a cabinet that exludes all other parties.

Objections to the expactable (not expect[]ed) policy are a good reason to veto a commission. However, Buttiglione never said or implied he wanted to take way, bluntly put, your right to commit immoral actions. Personally I dispise prostitution, but I would never outlaw it. Further knowledge of Buttigliones political record might be useful, but I don't have them at hand. Not that the EP cares.

I didn't think that EU comission is based on such rainbow coalition. Well, we gave socdems finance ministry in 1998, so why wouldn't EU do so?  ;D  But again, this is irrelevant argument, as Buttiglione's case has no political base, it's only his personal opinion.
