Ok so what does that say about the influence of Machiavelli and how modern politics have accepted his political philosophy? What seperates Machiavelli from the rest of the "dead guys" that have written books and that have now become the standard?

I'm not sure that I understand your question, but I might suggest that many of the other "dead guys" weren't quite so... pragmatic. If I've failed to answer you, please rephrase.
