How to create a dedicated server?

Hi,

I've seen a lot of topics recently regarding WOL vs XWIS vs Ords. First, how do we connect to the Ords server? I've also enough parts to build a second computer, which I will probably use to make a dedicated server for games. It should be up in about a month. I'd like to make is a server to allow a few people to connect to it instead through WOL, in order to play Emperor. How can I do it? Thanks a lot in advance for any answer!

You can use the XWIS connection tool to enter ords server's IP address or do it manually (a search in this forum should find the threads).

Not sure if we need another server, myself. Ords one seems to be kind of empty generally, but it is good for it to be there should WOL be discontinued and Xwis ever go down.

I understand. However, I don't want to rely solely on those two, in case both eventually become unavailable. That's why I'm looking for means to create my own little server, to be able to play with my friends.  ;)

You would have to talk to Olaf if you want to run the server on your computer as he was the one who wrote the code. But I don't think he is giving it out to the public.

Thanks for the info. However, I don't understand what the problem would be, since it's just to help people in the community.
