Seems interesting. There aren't any proof of anything here, but my question is why they asked a nuclear scientist and not a metheorologist. Why did they even post this article?

Nuclear Science covers a lot of things including particle theories etc which can explain this phenomona

But isn't metheoroligsts informed on this matter? Just say it to the weather dude to CNN instead of going and chasing a scientist. Or am I missing something?

I would almost believe that theory if not for one thing, If Ball Lightning is such a rare thing as it is, what are the chances of several of them materialsizing at the same time and place AND manage to maintain a line surrounding the aircraft....sounds kinda fishy to me ;)

i agree with this assesment.  one ball lighting is rare enough.  But a line of them in a symmetrical fashion?  I'm not calling them UFO's but I don't buy ball lighting
