there is this part in one of the startrek books I am reading, it is titled "startrek: Triangle". It is really neat.

anyways they are talking about warp drive and how it works, and they describe how the enterprise hits a comet, but because they hit it in warp drive the comet is obliterated into billions upon billions of different pieces, but it still continues on its course unhindered. Anyways it goes off into a neat sideline

the comet passed a planet full of primitive peoples. The peoples were expecting an omen because a war was about to be waged, but instead of seeing the comet which would be their sign of attack they saw a massive cloud of light in the night sky, and this omen was an omen of peace, and they united and stopped fighting eachother.

Simply because the enterprise accidentally hit a comet while in warp.lol I just love those kinds of things, really ray bradburyish.

As I said to you over MSN, it's a really neat idea, and I'll certainly look out for the book you mentioned.  But wouldn't that technically be a violation of the Prime Directive?  ;)

I've only read one Star trek book.  Star Trek: Log Eight, which was based on the Animated Series episode "Eye of the Beholder".  It was about an Enterprise away team being captured and put in an alien zoo.  It was pretty neat.  Aside from that, I've heard a lot of ST novels are pretty weak.  I don't know if that's true or not.
