Bene Gesserit

I had a question about the Bene Gesserit sisterhood for someone who either has a better memory or has read the books more recently than I have.  Somewhere in the books (either Heretics or Chapterhouse, I think)one of the reverend mothers described the purpose of the sisterhood perfectly...  Does anyone remember what she said?  All I remember is something like "To help humanity mature" but I'm sure FH put it better.  Anyone remember?

Unfortunately not... Odrade maybe?  I don't need the exact quote, just the general idea of what the stated purpose of the sisterhood is.
