Emperor crashes on startup and to screen.

i have a 1.4Ghz AMD Athlon with Epox 8kha+ 512ram, win xp, with all latest VIA 4in1 +agp and ide drivers, nvidia refernse drivers 23.11. The only thing that is bothering me is emperor crashes 90% of the time on startup but is fine on the second try. I have to ctr alt del it. Sometimes it quites in the game to screen all of the sudden. Particularly at the end and start of the mission. 1.08 patch is applied.

I've heard those drivers aren't very good, maybe try an older version of them. Also version 1.09 is the latest, it might help some problems. What DirectX version are you using?

it is at least 8.0 for direct x and as for drivers they don't crash any other games q3, dirty dozen and so on.

The 23.11 drivers do have problems. I suggest you try the 22.xx (I believe it's 22.80).

For other suggestions, I would also try the thread in my signature. If nothing helps, let me know in that thread and I'll help you !

(btw, make sure you notify Westwood tech support about your problem as well).

I was on 22.xx and on 21.xx. I upgraded and tried gradually. It is not that bad though with 23.11.

Maybe try using your videocard manufacturers drivers, in stead of Nvidia's..
