MMX? nessicary for Emperor?

I had heard rumours about that Emperor does not run well without MMX (AMD Athlon b.e.)(I have AMD)  When I bought the game it runned perfect with me, I thought, because I heard things about that the game randomly crashes with AMD.

But after playing a while a discovered that the game runned slow, slow timer... And when my screen showed a black shroud (no so much graphic activity then) the game was a lot faster...

I tried to set all my graphic options to low but that made no difference

I like to know if more people have this...

Is this not a problem at all?
