Has anyone ever heard of Otherkin? To give a basic run-down: Non-human souls born back into human bodies upon reincarnation.

Judeochristian mythology has such thing in so-called "giants", descendants of Nephilim, which had angelic soul and human body. As they were frustrated by body's limits, they were extinct after few generations. I would say it is close, human isn't simply aware of his true abilities. Some kind of psychical deviation.
