Darkrul3r Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 I have just started viewing here again, and when i'm on dune2k the words are really big, is there a way to fix that? and when i'm on emperor, i have music, but so sound of the units. what can i do to fix that? (i just recently installed the imperial war mod and uninstalled it to play on-line)
Atomic Mitten Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 If your using IE, click on the view tab then text size, set it to medium.Open the sound control app by double clicking on the little loudspeaker Icon in your taskbar, see if Wav is muted or set very low, increase your master volume to max.
Darkrul3r Posted December 21, 2003 Author Posted December 21, 2003 hehe, thanks for the help, but i still got no sound :'(
Atomic Mitten Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 Can you play a music CD ok ?Start the game and click on the options tab, click on the sound tab and check the settings.
Darkrul3r Posted December 21, 2003 Author Posted December 21, 2003 Yes, i can play music CD's. I have already checked the sound options.
Atomic Mitten Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 I think you'll have to re-install the game.Jules G mentioned something about having to re-install after removing the mod, that's why I asked about a switch.
Atomic Mitten Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 This is what was said:The installation program includes an un-install which will remove all the changes (including the rules and artini files). This would then default you back to a standard system except that the special Intro slide designed by Inoculator9 would either still be there or gone completely (and then I am not certain if EBFD would open)...I havent tested that!I suppose some-one could create an install routine that you then run to put back standard items (like the standard bitmap that launched EBFD), plus things like Apollyons mini-patch and AI stuff etc if that is what everyone now uses on-line.
Atomic Mitten Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 You could also check the sounds folder in Westwood/Emperor/Data/Sounds see if the sounds folder has anything in it.
Dunenewt Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Its to do with the SFX files which aren't found in any of the RFH/RFD files for Emperor. I think somebody should post the English Versions of them for download on this site so people can overwrite their modded ones - I have this problem with my Mod as well. :D
Atomic Mitten Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Can't people extract the sfx files from the emp installation disc ?
Atomic Mitten Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Arn't they in the music.bag files ? they are 50 MB plus in size ?
Dunenewt Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Nope they're not there. The audio.bag only contains the music I believe.
Dunenewt Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Can't people extract the sfx files from the emp installation disc ?Yes, I think you can but not everyone can find it. :P

(i just recently installed the imperial war mod and uninstalled it to play on-line)Try copying the extracted file in the SFX zip to C:Westwood/Emperor/Data/SFX folder, see if the game works with the sound again after that.
Atomic Mitten Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Only upload the text files not audio.bagThanks for the tip, DuneNewt :)
Darkrul3r Posted December 22, 2003 Author Posted December 22, 2003 Thanks for all the help! :D i just re-installed emperor, so now everythings fine
Atomic Mitten Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Jolly good, did you try the SFX files first ? or did you just install the game again.
Darkrul3r Posted December 22, 2003 Author Posted December 22, 2003 I re-installed the game befor i read this topic again, so i didnt get to try it,
Dunenewt Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 What probably happened is when he uninstalled the mod, it deleted the SFX text files so you would have to get new ones before the sound would return.
Atomic Mitten Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Yeah I realised that, we both did I guess, because we uploaded the zip file with them in. :)
