hey, I just wanted to post something about andrew's article.

Often the articles section is missed, and it has really good info from fans. Like about the sardaukar or the weapons and tactics of Dune. Well I just read your article about the religion and philosophy of Dune and it is great! I just wanted people to get to read this because it actually ran me up on a lot of info I needed to know.

I wanted to ask, how long did it take you to make this? and what kind of articles do you plan on writing next?

this is an odd thread, but I just want people to see that the articles section shouldnt be missed, and that this one was a really good article! from one dune fanatic to another, good job!

True articles can bring up new ideas etc. There are a lot of "unpublished" articles in the forums concerning Dune and is sad they can not be found easily at Fed2k main site.

I did make a thread about it ::)

http://www.dune2k.com/forum/?board=1;action=display;threadid=10672

It got lots of attention ;)

It was for ENG 101 class, so it took about all semester to "do"(learn how to write it properly) but I write up most of the essay in a couple of days, but getting the information took a couple of months. I read Dune Messiah, CoD, GEoD, Timothy Oreilly, and William Touponce books and took notes from them all that related to politics and religion.

So at about 1-2 hours a day or two reading...it took a while.

I requested some nice articles about politics and religion in Dune. Some didn't come through but others did. The two main ones that did were McLean, Susan and Palumbo, Donald which were very good reads and where I got a lot of my good information and arguments. (and took supporting points from Dune novels)

If you can read those articles I highly recommend it. One is better than the other though. (can't remember which)

I might have a ENG 381 class next semester, but it is mostly buniness oriented, so I am not sure when I will do another essay. I may just edit and add to the essay I already have when I get time and the right info (or new info)

I hate the search thing at Fed2k, it never works! Couldnt even find the thread i just linked to at the top of this post.

Thanks! :)

Here is my outline I had to pass in with it.(looks better in word perfect.)

Hey, there's a guy named Alexis de Tocqueville that wrote on the subject of religion and politics, plus many other aspects (economics, social classes, how "enlighten" is the culture...), all being a consequence of each other. A monotheist faith will tend to bring some specific aspects and so on. I just thaught you may be interested :)
