Emperor: Black screen and no graphics :(

I can instal and run emperor.However, wen i do the vid sequences run really jerky and the sound jerks really badly. Wen i run a game, the screen is nearly all black with some colour in places like smoke from buildings and stuff, but there is no visual display. The esc menu comes up fine but every thing is black so i cant see what im doing and it runs slowly. I'm running it on windows xp. Does any one no whats wrong or how to fix this problem. please reply soon as im desperate to play emperor.

Do you have norton antivirus on your computer?(although I doubt that is the problem)

Attach your directx info.

Are you running your onboard graphics chip ? :)

Couple Questions:

1. What is your system config? ie. Video card, processor, memory

2. Have you tried updating all drivers including motherboard chipset?

3. Have you tried disabling Visual Themes on the compatability tab?
