In their lifetime, of course. But there are species that mate for life, even after one of the pair dies. The question is, which is most beneficial? Which is the most ideal environment for children to grow up in?

ACE, I hardly think that an animal offspring will be tortured or damaged mentally if it is fathered or mothered by more than one. Humans, perhaps, but that's a societal effect. In many species, like the many species of ape, the tribe looks after the babies, as well as the mother.

Caid, I think I would agree with that, although you can't have it official in America as the legal system only recognizes two participating members of the union.

Oh, no, I believe a ban is in order (along with other similar crimes like adultery). Perhaps a public flogging for it? Only problem for that might be in the case of children.
