placing maps

in what folder do I place the maps I download for Emperor?

i think u extract them (they zipped i think) in to :

westwood/emperor/data/

The maps you download from the fan maps section are compressed in the cmf format. The downloaded maps should be placed in the folder mappacker/cmaps.

You will need the mappacker program to decompress the files. After decompression they should be in the emperor/data/maps folder

I installed the Mappacker. but how do I extract the map from the cmf file? I scanned through the whole damn help file without finding anything

The mappacker program can only find the maps that are placed in the mappacker/cmaps subdirectory. So after installing the mappacker program you make a new subdirectory called cmaps.

Simply hit the unpack button to extract

still doesn't work.

Why can't there just be a "open" button where I can locate the cmf file and extract it's content?

where do I place the cmf file?

and what is map editor directory?

1. Update your EBFD game to latest patch V1.09

2. download mappacker program and install it on your harddisc

3. make new subdirectory called cmaps --> /mappacker/cmaps

4. download the fan made map cmf file and place it in mappacker/cmaps directory

5.run mappacker and fill in settings on dir to place packed files in ( only has to be done first time )

6. click on unpack on top left

7. choose map from list and hit unpack button top right to extract it

Do not worry about mapeditor, you do not need it

Mapeditor allows you to make new maps

Make sure you download them in order otherwise it doesnt work for some reason

yeah I found out how to unpack it.

but I can't find the files I unpacked. and also they are not on the list of skirmish levels in emperor >:(

I got version 1.0 if that is important.

Update your game to latest patch 1.09 for it to work

yeah I tried to upgrade it and it didn't work. I downloaded the upgrade but it wouldn't start on any file. I got the same problem with Yuri's Revenge and Red Alert 2.

Make sure the path directory in the settings tab for your map packer is correct

C:WestwoodEmperorMapPackerCMaps

(use the browse function or cut and paste)
