that would depend on the function of your CPU. If you use it as an extra heater in your room or a oven it should be ok. If it is in use stricktly for computer purposes that is defeniately way to hot. ;)

Try to use your pc with an open case and look of the CPU fan is still working.

Have you overclocked it in any way ?

nah I don't over-clock. My CPU fan is spinning at 5450rpm and I had a look at it and true to the bios readings it is spinning around. I am using an AMD 1800+XP.

I might try taking the heatsink off and putting some more thermal gel stuff on.

EDIT: you might be onto something though, cooking some bacon and egg in the morning might be a good idea........
