CPU temperature

My CPU is running at 74 degrees celcius. Could this cause problems? My system is running at 40 degrees celcius.

that would depend on the function of your CPU. If you use it as an extra heater in your room or a oven it should be ok. If it is in use stricktly for computer purposes that is defeniately way to hot. ;)

Try to use your pc with an open case and look of the CPU fan is still working.

Have you overclocked it in any way ?

nah I don't over-clock. My CPU fan is spinning at 5450rpm and I had a look at it and true to the bios readings it is spinning around. I am using an AMD 1800+XP.

I might try taking the heatsink off and putting some more thermal gel stuff on.

EDIT: you might be onto something though, cooking some bacon and egg in the morning might be a good idea........

I was wondering if there is anything I can do to reduce heat inside of my PC apart from using fans. (which I will do anyway).

adding casefans and water cooling are the most commonly used options ....
