What would be a meritocratic system? Is meritocracy the best path for a society?

Personally, I don't believe Communism nor Capitalism in their known forms ever brang meritocracy. And that's why I'm asking.

Think about it... let's say that if a society pays 300 000$ on a guy's education and health, he gets to produce for 1 000 000$ more in his life, on average. Is it worth letting go a part of this meritocracy (by partly leveling people for exemple) if the 300 000$ is productive?

To be sure, capitalism as a word, defined by Marx, isn't suitable for naming a political system. System of socialism, or communism, was to make an ultimate way for mankind. It would replace the "bourgeois democracy" as political and "capitalism" as economical system with one easy logical placing all work and wealth from central thinking administrative, which would perish, because of hypothesis, that people will start to make it instantly. However, they didn't.

Altough I don't agree with defining worthiness of people, I would nod to your post.

Well since I am talking about meritocracy, it is pretty economic. But let's say I'm talking about everything tht came from right,a dn everything from left (liberal capitalism, marxist communism.....).

Meritocracy has different meanings on different levels.

Certainly, people should be funded more to do what is more useful to society - and, for those who are capable of benefitting from it, education to the highest standard is definitely useful to society in the future.

On a level of division of power, it is also sensible if there are some given minima of competence for any role in governance. However, to restrict all decision making to a very selective elite would not serve well if there was any possibility of abuse of power for personal or for the elite's own ends.
