HI guys, firstly to thank you all for your tremendous work on modding the game which i have loved for years, its fanastic to see others who love it just as much as me after all this time still! Im writing to see if I can have a little support because im having using the build Q mod (modified dune2000.exe) and the dune2000config.exe. My system details, ubuntu 15.04 on acer c720, intel i3 cpu, intel built in gpu hd4400, 4gb ram, 120 gb sata3 ssd. Using play on linux i can play this game as you would expect it to run on windows and it works fine. I can use the mission select mod fine, i can use the old high res patch 1.41 to play at 1366x768 (my max resolution). Everything works fine there. When I try to use the dune2000config.exe to use some of the options with in there no changes are made to game at all and the dune2000.ini file is created but as i say it makes no difference, the old hisres 1.41 does work though. When I use the buildqueue modified dune2000.exe it completely crashes play on linux and the game wont launch and i only get a black screen. replacing the modified exe with the original exe fixes it again. I have used both these mods succesfully on another pc which runs windows 7 natively so i know they work but i was hoping someone might some ideas on getting these 2 mods to work on play on linux?

If you have a nvdia graphics card it might work. I went here http://www.geforce.co.uk/drivers and found my model then used a vista version. Download the exe and extract it to c/nvdia and then go to device manager to find your graphic card and manually search for the file in C after you told it you have the disk and all low it to install and reboot after

You have no idea how pleased I am right now! I got it to work on my windows 7 PC using an unmodded game version, I had to use drivers for windows vista for my graphics card and manually install them. Thanks for all who helped

I forget the exact error tbh, probably won't be till Tuesday till I get to get a decent amount of time on the PC again. Will update when possible

Now that's an interesing theory as we have similar problem using the same brand GPU. Makes since I guess. I don't own a psx

Mate I know how you feel, I jus felt kinda nostalgic the other day and fancied a skirmish for a couple of hours which has turns into a small pjectec just trying to get the game to run. Out of interest which kind of graphic card are you using? I was looking on this site called game debate or something and was looking through min specs for hw stuff and it said that for the kind of one I'm using 'nvidia' the 6200 model was the min spec and I have the fx 5900 which I can only guess is not as good as a 6200. Perhaps we need to make some upgrades to our systems. I dunno

Did you try the Gruntlord installer posted somewhere near the top of this page, the link is working when I downloaded. The issue I had, after finding a working installer was when the game reached the main menu the window where you choose to load or start a game etc was blacked out so could not choose any options and to make it better my mouse curser was not show on the screen (using wireless keyboard with built in track pad) I did try akafedaykin dune2000.exe and I couldn't get that to work, kept giving me some kind of error which I forget and I just couldn't get to install (on xp) I'll have to try on my windows 7 PC but couldn't earlier as my girlfriend was using the TV which the main PC is connected to. I'm no PC boffin etc but if you get any luck let me know and like wise I shall return the favour

I didn't try that, I got as far as the menu and saw the buttons were missing so used task manager to exit and reported the issue here

OK great I'll give that a try, was hoping to avoid trying to set a virtual machine as I feel it could be a bit beyond me but I'd learn something, I know my way round android OS so its just unfamiliar territory for me doing read advanced stuff on a PC like that. Any way thank you for taking the time to reply to me, I'll let you know how I get on. Cheers! Edit Just to clarify you did understand correctly what I meant, main menu launched with the picture of a face and rocket tank launching missiles, in the middle there is the box where you would start or load a game or options and stuff, the whole thing is just black. Perhaps I'll try the repair option within the installer as first time I tried it said the launcher of some sort was missing and repairing fixed it so perhaps I'll get lucky third time eh :)

Thanks for your reply, I was half way through writing a post in your guide thread. So when I launch dune and reach the main menu I see no buttons to launch new game or skirmish or options etc There is a black window with nothing inside where the buttons should be.

OK so downloaded it and installed, how do I actually play the game as there's no options within the main menu? Sorry for sounding so nooby. I use another forum regularly to do with android and I know nooby questions can be a pain

Thanks a ton really appriciate it, i thought this place was a ghost town. I got in on the party 2 years too late lol So got it downloading, what do i do with the .msi file type? Does it extract or will it run hte installer if i click it or? Edit ok got it installing, im just not familiar with msi file type as an extention. I have patched to 1.0.6 and the game still wont play, i can veiw the intro video and it freezes after, wont load to main menu. Please please please can someone post a link to gruntlords installer? i have searched and searched and searched and there is no working links anywhere i can find, come on guys

Ok so to update you guys, i got a copy of dune 2000 on cd and ran the installer fine, played the intro 1st movie and 2nd (the sister talking about the prophesy) which is all good but after the end of that movie i get black screen and no sound, windows says dune 2000 is still running but the only waybf exit is through windows control panel. Does this help in any way? So play HW is up to hte challenge of playing a couple of movies but not further(bear in mind this is the furthest i have got on this PC Hope to hear from you guys soon!

Another thing, in my set up I forgot to mention I think I have directx 11 installed but not too sure and also I can't find any older drivers for geforce fx 5900 there seems to be none but I hope I'm wrong about that. If you guys could help a noob it would be great!

Hi guys so iv read around for days now and am desperate to get this game to work. I'm getting the black screen with sound in background, ya'll know the problem lol So got windows 7 ultimate 32 bit, Intel pentium 4 (3.00 GHz), 1 GB ram, geforce fx 5900 graphic (8bit 256 mb I think)PC connected to 40 inch LCD screen through dvi and I keep getting this Dune 2000 requires a 256 colour desktop to run. This video card does not support the required modes. Insufficient RAM and/or Virtual Memory. Check Virtual Memory settings and disk space to ensure at least 12Mb is avilable. File not found Please reinstall" I tired all older compatibility modes for older windows with 256 colours and run at 640 x 800 (what ever resolution), I'm running out of ideas, I tried 3 or 4 different versions I found on the internet which all do the same thing, I'm going to try a legitimate disc copy tomorrow borrowed from my brother. Also to note I think my geforce card does support 256 colours as I used that mode to test and it makes everything go very funky looking on my TV. I keep hearing about this Grunt Mod version but no where can I find a download link for it to get the game to run. Setting up a virtual machine might be just beyond my capabilities as never tried anything so advanced on a computer. I think is it cos I'm playing through dvi and resolution is getting pushed above what compatibility mode should or my graphics card needs swapping? Help please and keep on with the mods Gruntlord you do a grand job and can't wait to join in!!!!
