Just wanted to say, I was also experiencing this freezing every 15 minutes or so, until I updated my sound and video drivers; not sure which one was causing the issue, but it is now resolved and I've been playing 3-4hr matches with no problems.

Ok, I figured it out, I used a registry cleaner to remove more keys that I couldn't myself CTRL+Fing through Regedit. The installation got messed up btw, because the main installer stays open to finalize things after the cutscene installer runs, but when finished the cutscene installer has "Launch Dune 2000: Gruntmods Edition" enabled by default, and I absent-mindedly clicked finish before realizing it. This caused the game installer to lock up and not create the uninstall file.

So, I installed the game and it was working fine except it would freeze up every 15-20 minutes, requiring me to kill the process in task manager as others have reported. So I thought I'd update all my drivers and reinstall the game. However, after the cutscene installer finished, the main installer froze up and I had to kill that process too. Now the game is all messed up and won't even launch, and I can't uninstall it because it never created the uninstall.exe. I tried going through windows to uninstall it, but windows just says "cannot find uninstaller." So I tried deleting the game folder and removing any instance of "gruntmods" from my registry manually (there was only one), but when I try to reinstall it, the installer tells me to uninstall it first. What do I do? I just want to uninstall this so I can reinstall it and hopefully get it running again.

I SOLVED IT! At least on my computer, I was getting a gGameticks = 0 error, despite everything I had tried. Turns out, D2K can't handle CrossFireX setups. So what I did, is in the newest versions of AMD Vision Control Center, you can create custom profiles for each game. So open Vision Control Center, and on the left click "Gaming" and then under that click "3D Application Settings." Scroll all the way down to where it says "AMD CrossFireX Mode for 3D Applications" and in the drop down menu select Disabled. Then go back to the top and make sure the first drop down menu says "<<New Application>>" and click save. Here it will ask you to locate the game executable that will use this profile. The trick is, setting DUNE2000.EXE won't work, so you have to go to the bottom right corner of the window and where it says "Programs (*.exe)" click the drop down and select the only other option, "All fIles (*.*)" Now navigate to the folder where D2K is installed, and select DUNE2000.DAT and hit enter. Now you should have to hit "Apply" in the bottom left corner of Vision Control Center to make it stick, but other than that, the game should run perfectly now!

Hey Gruntlord, I'm getting the "Blt - An exception was encountered while performing the requested operation. [ gGameticks = 0 ]" error that Prophallus had, with the game giving a black screen and then crashing right at startup, and can not get around it. I know I had D2K running on this machine before, but I had to reformat my OS drive, and I can't get it working now. I downloaded your installer, ran it, ran the 3 patches (can't find a download for 1.5.2), ran the VB Runtime file, and still nothing. I have Win 7 Ultimate x64, 16gb RAM, an AMD Phenom II x4 980, and dual Radeon HD 6870s. I've downloaded and installed literally dozens of classic games, so I'm no noob, but for some reason this one is just not working for me...
