There is a instruction problem. The initial instructions shows a Gold by 1858. However, once a cnn is made between NYC and CHI, the bulletin shows a date from Gold as 1861. I ran a couple of tests and the 1858 is the correct one. After that date the 8 hauls will only give you a Silver Medal.   >>>>>I am in error Gwizz, and don't know if you can change the "topic subject".   Actually the scenario in question is  HANDLE FOR THE BREADBASKET.    I am playing both scenarios  and input the wrong title.

I just checked out the campaign map "Handle for the Breadbasket".

This is such an easy map for experienced players. The creators must have thought that it would take more than three years to connect New York and Chicago. Therefore they made an event to announce a connection bonus and prize for 2 million if Chicago is connected before 1861. The trigger is when station or track is laid in 1850 or later.

This prize money is up for grabs until 1861, from what I can see this date has nothing to do with the requirements for gold. I think the intent was to enable poor players (bronze) to still get the prize money.

P.S. Just about did the map in 4 years, went a month over. One of the few quick scenarios. I have replayed the campaigns many times in the past too. Good just to have fun with.
