New Dune 2000: Gruntmods Edition Installer Test

Hey everyone! I just whipped up a new installer for Dune 2000: Gruntmods Edition. It has been at least a year since the last installer was made, and it was using an unlicensed version of installshield. Not only was installshield a pain to work with, it also had a large overhead and took a long time to do its job (not to mention it was more likely to haunt me legally than the game itself).

The new installer uses NSIS (Nullsoft Scripted Install System), which is MUCH more flexible in allowing me to create the install file. Now you can choose any install directory you want, and I am still able to keep track of what files are being installed and where. This makes it a breeze to also adapt the new patch system I have been working on, which is also using NSIS to deploy. What does this all mean?

-New installer look

-Smaller download sizes

-Quicker installs

-All current patches included (No need to run patch files after download

-Future patches will auto detect the install directory and unpack themselves there

-Inclusion of D2K+ Toolkit: (Optional installation)

  1. Map editor
  2. Mission File (MIS) Editor
  3. String Editor
  4. Tileset Editor
  5. Sound Effect Tool
  6. User Interface Editor

-Uninstaller can now clean out all registry keys and installation folders (Installer also does not make any unneeded registry keys)

-Installer now has the D2K Icon :)

I would like you guys to all try it out and make suggestions either here or in the support forum topic, as I plan to finalize the installer and have it replace the outdated one.

A quick note is that the uninstaller will delete all files in the "Gruntmods Studios\Dune 2000\" and "Gruntmods Studios\D2K+" folders when it is run, so if you plan on uninstalling make sure to copy any files you need (like savedata) from those folders. I have already added a warning dialog in the version I have on my computer, so no need to report it.
