So I noticed recently that my multi card reader at the front of my tower does not show up in my systray or in "my computer". For the systray it would show up as it would when you plugin in a usb stick icon. For my computer it would just list about5 things as though they were drives (even with no media inserted).

I plugged in a memory stick pro (memory stick pro duo card in pro duo converter put in the pro slot) and nothing happens. I did this with ubuntu also and nothing happened (although I don't remember if anything ever did before with ubuntu).

I'm guessing I either disabled it from starting some time ago without realizing it, or it broke when the power went out when computer was on (I have power surge bar). I am not sure where the option is to start/stop it from starting, so I don't think it was me.

Any ideas?

I don't use any of the card reader things so it's not currently important, but I am wondering what happened.

Here's a pic of PC wizard 2008 info. Does that show it recognizing the hardware?

Second pic is of sys info program. If you want any specific info let me know.

They go out all the time. It's not part of the board. Basically it's a read that lies in front that connects to the board through a standard connection. When they don't work it typically means the card reader itself is bad. Check inside the case to see if anything came unplugged. Worse case scenario it's toast - you can buy a new one from Newegg for like $10.
