Is the Halo Trilogy linked to the Bible??

Stories on the Internet have claimed that numerous similarities between the Halo Trilogy and the Bible cannot be explained as merely coincidental. For example:

() The Flood (both the game's and the Bibles) was unleashed and consumed all the bad people in the world (in this case Halo and the bad people were the Marines and the Covenant on Alpha Halo).

()In the Bible, there were three Covenants formed between Noah, Abraham and Jesus. This means in Halo the forming of the Covenant between the three main races that compose the Covenant: Elites, Grunts & Hunters, with the Prophets guiding them.

() The Ark was created to harbor all the good things in the world, as said in the Bible. In Halo, the Ark is a Sanctuary designated by the Forerunners as places where the effects of Halo's activation were nullified (In Halo 2, 343 Guilty Spark said the Prophets were heading the the Ark to remotely activate the Halos and save themselves so they could rule the universe once all other life forms in the Milky Way were obliterated).

() Master Chief (well, technically Cortana found this out) uncovered the truth behind the Prophet's actions in Halo: Combat Evolved. This equals Noah accusing the False Prophets of treason (The Arbiter does this in Halo 2 as well).

I could name more coincidences, but these seem to be sufficient. Did Bungie create Halo from the Bible, desperate for a good game? Discuss.

Most of your reasons revolve around the Covenant, which are themselves a religious race. Your second reason is stretching things a bit far, but it's interesting what the Covenant do in terms of religious reasons. I feel that those key names were not coincidental, and were made to bridge a similarity between the Covenant's religion and a major human religion. This begs the question: are both religions reinforced by this similarity or dissected by it?

But why would the Covenant's religion be tied to the human's? As a seasoned Halo 2 veteran, I have looked through the story of Halo countless times, and still haven't found anything about what the Prophets believe in, or if they believe in anything at all. Or whether the Covenant's view of religion is similar to ours. It's clear why their hearts were "racked with grief" when Alpha Halo was destroyed; what with their intentions of total rule of the Milky Way; but what information is there regarding the Prophet's history and what they view in religious terms?
