As for downloading the patch, you can download it to wherever you want (say your desktop).

My guess is you can uncompress it anywhere and cut/paste the files extracted to the dune 2000 directoty. The patch says to unzip the files in the directory where Dune 2000 is located, which would be the easiest way to do so.
