A little help from you gamers.

Hello, fellow gamers.

You might have heard about Power Swapper. The program I made about a year ago, which made it easy to install and uninstall mods for your games.

However, it didn't make it easy enough, and few mods were ever compiled for it.

Soon, Power Swapper version 2 will come out, with very nice graphics, user friendly interface, and it will be connected to the database of www.moddb.com, which is, as far as I know, the biggest game modification database in the world. As for now, they don't actually host mods on their server, but they have now got a download server they are preparing.

Anyway, for Power Swapper to be as user friendly as possible, it must recognize all your games for you (so you don't have to add them to the program yourself).

For that to happen, I must ask you of a few favours:

Could you get the registry paths to the registry keys which contain the install folder of your games? (Get to the registry by: Start menu->Run->regedit.)

Examples:

[pre]

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREidDoom 3InstallPath

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARECodemastersOperation FlashpointMAIN

[/pre]

You will have to know something about the Windows Registry to help out, but help will be much appreciated.

I want you to both print the registry key path, and the value it holds, so that I know how to treat it.

I also need to know the path to the executable file of the games relative to the game install folder.

Examples:

[pre]

    Game install folder:  E:SpillEmperor

    Executable file path: E:SpillEmperorEMPEROR.EXE

    Relative exe-path:    -----------------EMPEROR.EXE

    Game install folder:  E:SpillUnreal Tournament

    Executable file path: E:SpillUnreal TournamentSystemUnrealTournament.exe

    Relative exe-path:    ---------------------------SystemUnrealTournament.exe

[/pre]

It would be nice if you gave me the relative exe-paths.

In these two steps, you can help me make this program great.

It will be like Windows Media Player, or iTunes, just for games. You can search and sort your games, and play the mods you want when you want, without the pain of having to copy files around.

I don't require you to help me, but I would appreciate your help.

In advance, thank you so much!

For absolutely all games, actually, even those not commonly modded.

The point is that all your games should be recognized.

This is why I would like some help. ;)

You must find the pointer to the installation folder in the registry, and then 'subtract' it from the path to the exe file.

Please see the examples I gave, though i can post them again below:

[pre]

    Game install folder:  E:SpillEmperor

    Executable file path: E:SpillEmperorEMPEROR.EXE

    Relative exe-path:    -----------------EMPEROR.EXE

    Game install folder:  E:SpillUnreal Tournament

    Executable file path: E:SpillUnreal TournamentSystemUnrealTournament.exe

    Relative exe-path:    ---------------------------SystemUnrealTournament.exe

[/pre]

And is 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMindscapeChessmaster 5500' a key or a 'key folder' (contains other keys)?
