I've tried to reply to your e-mail, but everytime i do I get my message returned because your mailbox is to full, so I'm posting my reply to you here.

Well, here's the thing. The guy who was making it just disapeared without giving us anything that he had done, without even telling us what language he had used. I hadn't been asking for the info about that for a couple reasons:

1) I trusted the guy, I'd known him for a year.

2) I wouldn't have understood what he was talking about, I know jack about programming and left anything to do with that up to the actual programmers (there were two). Whatever they thought worked best, they could use. However I know at the end they had switched to the programming language Dark Basic.

So, if you end up working on it you and the other programmer(s) depending on whether you think you would need more help, you would have a free hand when it comes to that kind of stuff. Except that we want it IBM PC compatable, not macintosh. The story line and level discriptions are all planned out, but subject to change depending on the programers ability. Ie. For the first level it was originally a puzzle level where you had to figure the right order of numbers to drop the House shield of an outpost before time runs out. This is because the former programmer was not very experianced. If the programmers think they can, it would be expanded to be a sort of diablo level, with your character running down the streets of the outpost killing Harkonnens until he gets to the shield controls and then tries to figure out he proper order beofre time runs out.

If you are interested I will send you the discription of levels that were made for the original programer. If you think you can do better than what there is (I mean add tot he levels to make them more interesting), or if you have any suggestions to improve it, I'd be glad to hear them and if everyone else agrees add them to the game.

Just in case you didn't see it, here is the basic background to the game:

Have you ever wondered what might have happened if Paul Atreides had died that fatefull night of the Harkonnen invasion of Arrakis? What would have become of the Fremen he led to victory? The Empire he usurped? Or the future he created? Here is your chance to find out...

It has been seven months since the Harkonnen invasion, since the one thought to be the Lisan Ail Gaib died trying to escape to an ornithpter hidden by Liet-Kynes. The Beast Rabban rules Dune with an Iron fist, searching out and destroying the surviving Atreiedes and Fremen forces. Those forces have went into hiding, building both there support and strength, waiting for the right moment to emerge from the sietch's and reclaim their world. Leading these forces is the Dune Liberation Army.

That was copied from the Dune2k message board.

The main character is named Tanakai, which means Son Of The Sand (hence the name of the game). A young Fremen forced to live in a Harkonnen outpost at the edge of the Valley of the Blind, an inclosed area of sand protected on all sides by the shield wall so that no sandworms can get it. He's been trying for months to get into a rebel force called the Dune Liberation Army and has just now recieved a Distran from them saying taht they need him to drop the shields of the outpost for an attack by there forces. Then the game begins.

As I said beforre, if your still interested I will give you a complete breakdown of the levels as they were for the original programmer.

thanks for your interest,

Mahdi
