I posted a similar post in the General thread. see, my birthday was yesterday, and I got a PS2. I have never recieved such a cool gift, it is so neat. Anyways i got it used, and it works wonderfully, but the problem is the previous owner put parental locks for films. So now I can only watch films up to PG-13 on it! this is frustrating because some of my favorite films are R rated. Anyways is there any sort of override for the parental locks? I cant be the only one who has had this problem. I mean there must have been somebody who forgot their own password, or somebody in my position with a used console.

I just need to figure this out, because I cant watch film on it right now with the parental lock on it, and I cant unlock it because hte previous owner was stupid and didnt unlock it!!! argh lol please help me.

P.S. I know there are two threads with similar content on fed2k. One here and one in general, but since it was my birthday yesterday, and this deals with my present, which I want to be fully active, I am hoping people will give me some slack on this issue. I really just want to figure this out so I can watch films on my PS2. thanks for any help that can be given. :)

Have you tried contacting the former owner about it (if possible)?

From what I can tell input 7444 into the password part.

To clear the password that has already been set, press SELECT then 7444 when asked for a password. You will then be prompted to set a new password. Make it something easy like 0000. Then go into Custom Setup (the icon looks like a lock with a key hole). Go down to Parental Control. It will probably ask you for a password when you try to modify these settings, so enter 0000 (or whatever password you entered) when prompted. Go down to level, and set it to Off. Then you are done. You can exit the menus and return to playing your DVD.

Well if you are looking for a way to get rid of it, read the other posts.

Unless that or the other links did not help.
