sorry if I made things worse edric about suggesting the change to empr about changing the name. It wasent your fault, empr should have just been a little more sensitive and thought about maybe attacking your post in a different way, that is my opinion at least.

Anyways I think there is a lot of one sidedness on this thread.

It has nothing to do with "not having anything to share" in communism, if it is done right, and a country has enough resources it would technically work okay.

The problem is this; when you have a nation that is twisted from its original outlook, a good example is when Stalin was in control of russia with many other of his thugs. They destroyed land ownership and braught out the whole notion of sharing all to all people.

The problem is this "sharing" was completely unfair, as everything was either taken away or it was given to the state. So that if a Barbor took home a comb just say, he would be stealing from the state and could be arrested for years for something this simple. It isnt what you dont have to share, it is how the government manipulated the terms of sharing and others to their own ends. This is where many communist governments fail, it is human nature.

Sorry Mc Arthur... enm oups ! Sorry emprworm :D !

But I think that communisma ideas are good, but to applicate this is impossible because it's an opportunity to make a dictature ! (ussr, china, cuba, northern corea, and the list is long !)

But why emprworm attack communism ??? It's like hospitals who joke of charity ! ::)

That's ok, this isn't exactly a big deal...

The problem is this; when you have a nation that is twisted from its original outlook, a good example is when Stalin was in control of russia with many other of his thugs. They destroyed land ownership and braught out the whole notion of sharing all to all people.

Not exactly. Stalin used the ideas of the five-year plans (rapid development of industry) and the collectivisation of agriculture (which were originally Trotsky's ideas, but of course Stalin gave himself all the credit) in his own unique way... You see, the collectivisation of agriculture was supposed to involve peasants voluntarily joining together in collective (co-operative) farms that would increase efficiency and ensure prosperity for all those involved. Stalin took out the "voluntary" part and chose to force the peasants into it, and then assigned his own government officials to hold absolute control over the collective farms (so that they essentially became state-owned enterprises nd the peasants were exploited much like in capitalism).

In other words, Stalin didn't institute common property over land. Rather, he effectively made all the land HIS own property.

The principle of "sharing all to all people" can only be fully applied in communism. And keep in mind that the Soviet Union claimed to have achieved socialism, not communism (of course, in reality it didn't achieve either of them, but that's another story). In socialism, private property still exists. Only the means of production are communal property.

Yes, exactly. As I pointed out, everything was practically the private property of the tiny oligarchy that ruled the state. This is one of the reasons why stalinism is not socialism or communism.

This is where many communist governments fail, it is human nature.

First of all, there is no such thing as a "communist government". As I explained millions of times before, communism is a system with no government.

Second of all, regarding the myth that human nature is somehow against communism, see this topic.
