can't get emperor started

Hello, I'm new and I have had EBFD for over a year now. I couldn't even start the game. The download was successful, but when I click on the icon the Emperor sign shows up and suddenly turns black and then returns to normal. I have Window XP home edition, Direct X9.0b, downloaded SP1a from the internet, and have a Geforce 4 MX video card. Please help me. Thanks Jessie ;D

Do you have any Norton Anti virus installed ?

Also, have you updated all your drivers (motherboard chipset, video and sound card) ? Could you attach your dxdiag ?

I have Norton Antivirus 2003 included with my pc. I downloaded a lot of updates from Microsoft, but I didn't have a chance to look at the names.[attachment archived by Gobalopper]

I just uninstalled NAV and Emperor now works perfectly thanks a lot! ;D
