So, what's up with this show?

I watched and liked the original, Gamespot TV, on the ZDTV original. I watched a few episodes of its next incarnation, much busier at the time, and I liked it.

But this new one, X Play, is so...frigging...stereotyped.

Adam Sessler, a dude I really liked on the first couple of game review shows, is coming across as a complete 13-year-old nerd. No, nerd isn't the word, there isn't a word to describe how stupid and immature his character acts.

The girl, Morgan Webb, acts like your typical gaming (ladies and small children, cover your eyes, I'm probably going to offend someone here:) bitch, magnified a thousandfold. As a matter of fact, most gaming girls I know don't act anything like her character. Maybe she's just trying to be sexy, but it's really hosing down my flames, and I doubt I'm the only one.

And "characters" is the correct word. Adam never acted like he does now in any of the game review shows preceding this one. And Morgan was much nicer and normal on The Screen Savers, which is where I saw her first.

It's obvious, the show's writers are pitching the stereotypes to a certain group of the audience. 13-year-old nerds and nerdettes who think the crappy jokes and inuendo is absolutely hilarious. Pardon me, but I'm not 13 anymore, and I wouldn't have found that mess funny when I was an immature 13.

Leave the campy jokes to cartoons and lower forms of television. The only reason I watch X Play is for the reviews, which are good. Television like X Play should focus on the reviews anyway, not on the reviewers, and certainly not on a stereotypical, and moderately offensive, view of the audience.
