  2. Hi Alex. You've got a few things wrong about the worms. First: Infantry can be eaten by worms, they pick up the rhythmic vibrations of their footsteps and are attracted (The Fremen are the only infantry who do not attract worms, they've developed a way of walking without rhythum) Second: There are 2 different sizes of worm. One that the Fremen Fadykin can ride into battle (these eat one unit), and the other is the giant (Shai-Halud) worm which comes up vertically and can eat up to 9 harvesters!!! There ya go Mungers =3rd= Elite Regiment.
  3. Well we've actually discussed most things over at the official forum. We were wondering what those tent things were that the scout goes up to and those men pop out of. Also what were those cow-type creatures. What that green thing was. Plus some other stuff I can't remember. :) I just thought it was well funny when they clicked on the flame turret and those blue rings popped up and the guy goes "what the fu*k??"

  6. Well the player gets a choice of 2 subhouses out of the 5 to ally with, so I suppose that leaves 3 up for grabs to share between the AI. Of course you can lose alliances with subhouses you are already allied with if you don't prove your loyalty towards them or you ally with one of their enemies. Throughout your campaign you don't have to complete all missions but there are some that will put you in/out of favour with certain subhouses. Peace, out :D

In Dune II it was the Harkonen for the simple fact that you got Troopers and Quads, instead of infantry and trikes :) But now I'm being swayed to the Duke's side, as they've got some interesting infantry this time. I'm particularly interseted in the Kinjal and the Sniper as I've got some big plans for these 2. Also the Minotaurus looks like it's gonna kick some ass!!!! So in summary: Atredies Peace, out
  8. The Ordos ARE mercenaries!!!! As to having mercenary allies, I would have thoought they would be competing against each other. As I said earlier, you can only ally with the 5 subhouses already mentioned. Paece, out :D

  10. But Mithrandir, no good commander is going to let contaminators get anywhere near his infantry is he??? They may be tough but no contaminator's gonna survive a direct bombardment of mortar shells are they??? Even if some do surive and the worst came to the worst, you could send a group of vehicles towards them to block their path and shoot the crap out of them, preventing them getting anywhere near your infantry.   12. I agree with you Mithrandir, the Tleilaxu are a pretty S**T sunhouse!!! I mean what's happened to the Gholas, or the Face Dancers??? I mentioned this in an earlier post but using a face dancer to mimick the enemy units and then infiltrate their base would be a wicked idea!!! To be honest, I am rather dissapointed with the effort that WW have put into the Subhouses!!! They each have only two units!!! Anyways, Peace, out

    dune2 multiplayer

    Dune 2 was the first RTS game I ever played, and all respect to WW for making such an amazing game!!! But will anyone actually bother playing Multiplayer on Dune 2 when E:B4D is released??? It just seems like a lot of work that no-one will actually bother to use.
  14. While were on the subject of E:B4D, why have the subhouses only got 2 units each??? As mentioned earlier the IX could have been given loads more units!!! As could the Tleilaxu, what about Gholas, and Face dancers??? I suppose they did have to balance out the subhouses, and there aren't really many more units the Fremen could have really are there???
  15. I agree with you Mithrandir, but surely any unit with offensive capabilities can destroy spice fields!! A spice field wouldn't last long against a bombardment from mortar infantry, or if a saboteur released it's payload right in the middle of a field now would it??? The harkonens have the Inkvine cattapults which covers areas with toxic fluids which remain on the ground for a while. You could surround an enemies spice fields with the toxic fluid and then their infantry wouldn't be able to defend their harvesters and they would have to commit valuable tanks etc. to defend them against skirmish runs!!! Personally I'm gonna set up groups of snipers at key locations round the base and pick off important infantry units!! Ohh wow!!! I just thought... if you ally with the Tleilaxu you could use the leeches on enemy vehicles, and when they send out their engineers to take them off.... You pick them off with your snipers!!!! Wicked!!!
  16. The pre-order units are a special "gift" from WW to anyone who supports the launch of the game by pre-ordering it. Only certain stores are participating though so you need to check which ones. I read somewhere that WW/the retailor have a code on a piece of paper which is added your boxed version of the game and you then enter it at www.westwood.com I presume to get your free units. I wouldn't be suprised to see the code up on the message board a few days after it's release though, so there's no need to rush out and get it really. I also heard there was going to be an extra CD containing the E:BFD soundtrack which would also be included wih pre-orders, but you had to pay
  17. Shaddam_Corrino, I did the read the topic carefully, you just didn't read what I wrote. What I said was that WW had said the game was set 200 years before the film, and this other guy was saying that they'd got it wrong and set it 1 year before the film (199 years out!!) Peace, Out.
  18. So you can build as many units as you like then??? The annoying thing about Dune II was you only got a limited number of Fremen/Sardukar units, and even then they weren't any stronger than your regular infantry!!! This will be a great improvement to the game!!
  19. I'm not saying that the HAVE to or SHOULD follow the books , I was just saying it would be nice if those units were in there!! I don't want his to turn into another argument like the on where WW said the game was 200 years before the film and some guy was complaining that it was actually 1 year!! I mean big deal!!! I don't really care as long as it's a good game. Anyway, so does anyone know if you have control of subhouse units etc. etc...... (see earlier post)
  20. A Ghola unit ought to make an appearance as well as I thought these were like the minions to the Face Dancers??? I never heard of the contaminator units in the novels before, do they exist??? Also one more thing; when you ally with a subhouse, do you have complete sontrol over the units or do they roam freely on the battle field to do as they please??? Do you need to build a base for the subhouses if you can "control" them?? If yes, do you think the Tleilaxu will have a "flesh Tank" structure which allows you to "rebuild" dead units into Gholas??
  21. I never actually mentioned a "Flying transport". I was actually refering to a ground-based tank unit, like an armoured carrier or something, but hey!! Flying transports would work too!!
  22. Are there only going to be 2 units available to each of the subhouses??? The Tleilaxu ones look pretty crap to be perfectly honest!! I mentioned this in an earlier post, but does anyone know if there's a Face Dancer unit which allows you to mimick the opposing army and infiltrate their base??
  23. Will there be any transport units in Emperor that allow you to carry infantry across the battlefield before deploying them??? That would be cool!!, like 10 infantry to a transport, you take 5 transports roll up to the enemy and out jump 50 units!! Result!!! Does the advanced carryall allow you to carry infantry???
  24. The Fremen are gonna kick ass!!! You can set up thumpers to attract worms to certain locations (Bonus = worms are massive in Emperor just like they should be!!), also as mentioned earlier they have the wormriders. Does anyone know what the Tleilaxu units look like??? Will they have loads of Gholas??, 'cause they won't have any machine weaponary. Do you think you'll be able to restore dead units on the battlefield?? Is there gonna be a face dancer unit which lets you mimick the oppossing armies and infiltrate their base undetected?? That would be cool!!!
