I've actually finished the game without Chani being captured. Just didn't go to Oxtyn-Tabr before all the forts were mine. But in this case we skip a half of scenario. Chani won't let you meet Kynes. She says that final attack is imminent. Nobody felt ill. Just gathering in the sietch and launching the final attack.
