I searched a long time to buy a copy for a friend.  If you are not in the USA you can't buy through Amazon, but I found a 2nd hand copy through Amazon and contacted the seller directly to arrange a purchase.

Make sure you get Gold or at least the TSC expansion pack.

The Platinum version is the latest version of RRT2.

I don't recall exactly what was added to the Platinum over the Gold though.

On my plat game it read "2 additional hours of blues music".

That's what attracted me to the game in the first place.

Who knew it be such a great game!

I could be wrong, but I don't think Platinum was ever released for the Mac. (Nor Linux for that matter)

I've only seen gold, and the original (without the TSC extensions) for sale on Amazon.

Platinum has more maps, but all these extra maps are available on the net.  It's the same game.

But Gold includes the TSC updates, which greatly improve the game and make it possible to play most of the player supplied maps (mostly not possible with original).

I don't think there's really that much difference, game-play wise, between Gold and Platinum.
