The Twelve Caesars is a comprehensive history of the first twelve roman emperors. From the rake and general supreme Imperator Julius, to the Tyrant Emperor Domation.

I loved it, because it was actually very fun. It gave you information on the details, things of the good and bad. Good gossip that kept it very interesting, as horrible as that sounds.lol It was great for the fact that it didnt bore me like Plutarchs various lives did.lol I mean I read almost all of the famous lives within it, but it took a lot of will power. might be just me, but suetonius is a lot more fun. Of course this might also be why suetonius isnt considared one of the greatest historians, doesnt matter to me though.lol

have any of you read it? if so tell me what you thought.

(on a side note, I Clavdivs, a PBS drama about the lives of the emperors from augustus to Cladius is very very good! It has some of the most famous shakespearian actors around at the time it was made. It is largely based on the writings of Suetonius, because almost everything in the huge production is in the words of the historian. I highly suggest watching it if you dont want to read the book, it is really damn good, very enjoyable.)
