i think i know where you're going with this. building and training will use up the resources as soon as they are aquired and i will never see my money value grow as long as i'm using it as soon as i get it. but i never get it is the thing. the harvesters never get spice. if i direct them back to the refinery, nothing is "offloaded" i guess you could say, from the harvester. i spend until i'm broke and then that's it. no mas. no bueno por caca. all i get from that point forward is the reinforcements. with that said, i'm going to retire tonight. it's too late to play a game. thanks everyone for helping me out. this game is fun, can't wait to play it tomorrow. the game was pretty much at bargain bin status at wally world, so i'm not too upset that everything isn't working smoothly. i'll get over it and still manage to have fun i'm sure. i don't know if anybody here plays quake, but i'm an addict. if you do, you'll appreciate this song. if not, well it should still make you laugh. so, here's your reward everyone for being so helpful and not flaming this newb... http://mchawking.imarc.net/songs/QuakeMaster.mp3

...sorry, wrong quote i've only got the money that i start with to build with. this must be a bug becuase it works just fine with harkonnen. i build the refinery and the harvester automatically goes out and starts harvesting without my intervention. i can tell he's harvesting because it does the animation with the little arm that moves up and down or back and forth (can't recall how it moves, but it moves and the harvester will periodically move to a new position within the spice field)

i'm pretty sure it was spice. the red stuff on the ground that causes the cursor to turn to a red crosshair when you have the harvester selected, correct? huh?

ok, i just started a game of harkonen and it works just fine. wonder why it doesn't work with ordos. i built the refinery, the harvester would appear on the pad with the new refinery, the transport plane would be circling above and it would just sit there. so i'd select the harvester, then click on the spice. the plane would pick it up, drop it off on the spice, and it would just sit there. i'd build another harvester, it would appear in front of the factory, and it would just sit there. so i would direct it to the spice as well, and they would just sit there side by side. at that point i wouldn't have enough spice left to build anything else except maybe a scout or something, playing the mission wiht nothing but reinforcements. and being the newb that i am, i'd lose... fast.

yeah, sorry forgot to mention it. i used the autoupdate right before i posted here. still didn't do anything. i played this game before a long time ago and i don't remember having to do anything special to get the harvesters to work. i think i'm going to uninstall and reinstall before i give up completely. i've read a few posts and it seems that this game has a buggy history. found another thread where a guy had a similar problem but he said that the harvesters would stop in the middle of a mission. mine don't even start at the beginning of the mission. i'm playing house ordos. the post i found said he only had the problem with ordos and one of the other houses and only on certain missions. i guess i'll try playing another house to see if it works or not.

Forgive me, i'm a newb. But how do you give the harvester the command to harvest? All it does is sit there. This is in single player mode. Haven't tried multiplayer yet. I can't get past a mission cuz i can't get any spice. Things i've tried: 1. Nothing, tried to see if it would start to harvest on its own. 2. Select the harvester and then click on the spice field when the cursor turns to a red crosshair. The harvester goes to the spice field and doesn't move. 3. Select the harvester and then click on the building that it's supposed to drop off the the spice at. The harvester goes to the building and sits on the pad and never moves. am i missing something here? i would think that all three of those would work, but none do. TIA
