How to use the newbie guide:

The newbie guide is currently a list of unit's weaknesses and strong points, it's very useful if you know how to use it, here's an example:

You have 3 assault tanks and 15 buzsaws, each group can take out 2 Minotaurs but what would be the best choice? Look up the buzsaw and assault tank and minotaur, the minotaur is bad against armour but good against light armoured tanks, the buzsaw is a light armoured tank, the assault tank a heavily armoured tank, the assault tank would be in this example the best choice, instead of losing + - 7 buzsaws you can destroy those 2 minotaurs with 3 assault tanks of course they will receive some damage, but at least you haven't lost anything.

1. It's bad against medium-heavily armoured tanks.

2. It's bad against turrets.

Equipped weapon is good against: Infantry, buildings and light armoured tanks.

-----------------------------------------

Equipped weapon is good against: Infantry, Light to Medium armoured tanks, large mobs.

-----------------------------------------

Community ratings: 7.1

This unit is good against ordos and harkonen, in groups with protection it's hell on legs for harkonen or ordos players, use these units in combination with kobra's/fremen warriors/fremen fedaykin/sardaukar elites/lasertanks and dustscouts and I can guarantee that you'll defeat most players hanging around here.

HOUSE HARKONEN

Scout

GOOD

------------------------------------

1. It is fast.

2. It can see further then most units.

3. It is mostly used to quickly scout the map.

------------------------------------

BAD

------------------------------------

1. It is very lightly armoured.

2. It can be killed by almost everything.

3. It cannot attack.

------------------------------------

Multiplayer purpose: The scout is used to quickly scout the map.

------------------------------------

Equipped weapon is good against: N/A.

------------------------------------

Community ratings: N/A.

------------------------------------

The scout is perfect for early scout missions; these units can quickly scout the map for you.

Light Infantry.

GOOD

------------------------------------

1. It is quite cheap.

2. In harkonen rushes it is a good unit to rush with.

3. It can be effectively used against early scouts.

4. It's quite effective against light tanks.

------------------------------------

BAD

------------------------------------

1. As the name says, it is a light armoured infantry unit.

2. They don't keep up with your other rushing units.

3. They do very little damage to heavily armoured tanks.

5. They do little damage against buildings.

------------------------------------

Multiplayer purpose: The light infantry unit is used to rush an opponent early in the game.

------------------------------------

Equipped weapon is good against: Infantry and light armoured tanks.

------------------------------------

Community ratings: 5.7

------------------------------------

This unit is good to rush with, it's good against the vehicles your opponent buys early in the game and is quite good against infantry too (you need to bring them in masses of course)

Flametrooper.

GOOD

------------------------------------

1. It's good against infantry.

2. It's quite good against light armoured tanks.

------------------------------------

BAD

------------------------------------

1. It's slow.

2. It's quite expensive for its abilities.

3. It takes too long to upgrade and train them for early rushes.

a. Because they require an upgrade.

b. Upgrades are costly, instead you could get for example: a turret.

------------------------------------

Multiplayer purpose: Flameweapons aren't used a lot online.

------------------------------------

Equipped weapon is good against: Infantry, "flesh", buildings and light armoured vehicles.

------------------------------------

Community ratings: 4.4

------------------------------------

I've heard somewhere that flameweapons are good against worms.

Engineer.

GOOD

------------------------------------

1. It has a weapon, unlike the other engineers.

2. It can capture buildings (can only be done once)

3. It can remove infected units (units with leech larvae's)

4. It can instantly repair a damaged friendly building (can only be done once)

------------------------------------

BAD

------------------------------------

1. It is slow.

2. It is easily killed.

3. It requires an upgrade.

4. Its pistol is weak.

------------------------------------

Multiplayer purpose: The engineer is used to capture enemy buildings.

------------------------------------

Equipped weapon is good against: Infantry.

------------------------------------

Community ratings: N/A.

------------------------------------

A good tactic to use with the engineer is to bring 1 with you with a rush, kill all your opponent's troops, or all your opponent's troops on his path, sneak him in and take over a construction yard, else a barracks, don't bother taking the weapons factory because he'll still have the option to build turrets, disable his ability to build turrets first because rushes are quite weak against sudden turrets.

TROOPER.

GOOD

------------------------------------

1. It is quite powerful against tanks and buildings.

2. It can attack air units.

------------------------------------

BAD

------------------------------------

1. It is lightly armoured.

2. It is bad against infantry.

3. It is quite slow.

------------------------------------

Multiplayer purpose: The Trooper is used to set up a quick AA-defence.

------------------------------------

Equipped weapon is good against: Tanks and airplanes.

------------------------------------

Community ratings: 6.4

------------------------------------

The trooper is good to bring with you for spice raids, it's good against tanks and airplanes too, although I don't advice you to bring them with you on very early rushes since their production will stop the production of units which I find more important in rushes.

TANKS

Buzsaw.

GOOD

------------------------------------

1. It is fast.

2. It is a good rushing unit.

3. It can run infantry over.

4. It has 2 guns.

5. It has more armour then the other light armoured tanks.

------------------------------------

BAD

------------------------------------

1. It cannot attack air units.

2. It's weak against units like the Minotaur and assault tanks.

------------------------------------

Multiplayer purpose: The buzsaw is mostly used in early rushes.

------------------------------------

Equipped weapon is good against: Infantry and light to medium armoured tanks.

------------------------------------

Community ratings: 7.9

------------------------------------

A buzsaw is a good rushing unit, it has duel guns and therefore can easily destroy early vehicles, like the dustscout, it can also run over infantry making it a terror on a wheel with a medium speed.

Assault tank.

GOOD

------------------------------------

1. It has a good armour.

2. It can be a good unit to bring with you when you're rushing.

3. It has a powerful shell.

4. Its shell never misses.

------------------------------------

BAD

------------------------------------

1. It lacks range.

2. It's vulnerable against anti-armour units.

3. It's slow compared to the other harkonen units (excluding the devastator)

------------------------------------

Multiplayer purpose: The assault tank is a tank for early to medium games (in time)

------------------------------------

Equipped weapon is good against: Tanks and buildings.

------------------------------------

Community ratings: 7.4

------------------------------------

The assault tank is more of a distraction, yes it has a good gun and a assault tank can destroy 5 buzsaw - 1 assault tank, but it draws fire, this is good since it provides time for your other units to damage/destroy his army.

Flametank.

GOOD

------------------------------------

1. It's good against infantry.

2. It's fast.

3. It's quite good against buildings.

4. It's good against worms.

------------------------------------

BAD

------------------------------------

1. No AA-capabilities.

------------------------------------

Multiplayer purpose: flameweapons aren't used a lot online.

------------------------------------

Equipped weapon is good against: Buildings, tanks and infantry.

------------------------------------

Community ratings: 6.1

------------------------------------

It's good against worms, if your opponent makes a lot of worms and you don't have fremen or sardaukar, build some flametanks, worms give away a lot of experience points too ;)

Missile tank.

GOOD

------------------------------------

1. It has a powerful round of missiles.

2. It can destroy almost any kind of tank in 1 round.

3. It can shoot air units.

4. It's quite fast compared to its firepower.

------------------------------------

BAD

------------------------------------

1. It's lightly armoured.

2. It's weak against almost any type of fire.

3. It needs an upgrade.

4. It's easily picked on by fedaykins.

------------------------------------

Multiplayer purpose: The missile tank is usually used to take out or heavily damage heavily armoured tanks (minotaurs, kobra's etc)

------------------------------------

Community ratings: 8.0

------------------------------------

Equipped weapon is good against: Buildings, tanks and airplanes.

------------------------------------

Missile tanks are quite good hit and run units, it can kill a Minotaur in 1 round, a kobra in 2 rounds, everything that survives his wrath will be heavily damaged, and it

4. It is cheap.

--------------------------

Community ratings: N/A

--------------------------

Equipped weapon is good against: N/A.

--------------------------

A scout is a perfect unit to detect those nasty fedaykins before they reach your Minotaurs, the scout is also a cheap and fast unit to scout the map and an enemy's base, and its stealth capability helps him in doing his scouting jobs.

Light infantry.

GOOD

-------------------------

1. The light infantry is quite good against light vehicles.

2. It can protect your base against early scouts.

3. It is cheap, doing other unit's jobs like killing early scouts.

-------------------------

BAD

-------------------------

1. You don't need it late in the game.

2. Other units can do the job better.

--------------------------

Multiplayer purpose: defending against early rushes and defending against early scouts.

--------------------------

Community ratings: 4.8

--------------------------

Equipped weapon is good against: Infantry and light armoured tanks.

--------------------------

The light infantry is cheap to produce and can help you fight off a rush, don't build light infantry units if you're facing against something like a Minotaur horde or something similar to that.

Kindjal

GOOD

--------------------------

1. The kindjal has a good range and is effective against tanks.

2. It carries a cannon and a pistol.

3. It is a useful unit against those nasty missile tanks or lasertanks.

--------------------------

BAD

--------------------------

1. It has to deploy itself before it can use its cannon.

2. It reloads quite slowly.

--------------------------

Multiplayer purpose: defending your army against fast hit and running units.

--------------------------

Community ratings: 6.9

--------------------------

Equipped weapon is good against: Tanks and buildings.

The kindjal is a useful unit to damage/slow down/destroy those nasty lasertanks or missile tanks etc, they carry a cannon that has the power to knock out the lasertank's shield.

Engineer

GOOD

--------------------------

1. It can remove leech larvae

IMO, scouting the map early in the game is only for knowing his location, besides, you can use one of your remaining scouts to scout his/their bases when another scout dies, remember, you train 4 scouts to find 1/2 opponents, that's 2 scouts per opponent.

btw. sorry for editing your post, i thought i was making a new one :-[

Airdrone

GOOD

--------------------------

1. It is a more mobile AA-defence then the mongoose.

2. It is a strong AA-weapon.

--------------------------

BAD

--------------------------

1. It is lightly armoured.

2. It can only shoot ground units.

3. It is vulnerable to AA-fire from the ground.

4. It can only dodge gunship and airdrone missiles.

--------------------------

Multiplayer purpose: AA-defence and attacking enemy carryalls.

--------------------------

The airdrone is the best aa-defence in the game, fast and strong, use the airdrone to destroy unprotected carry alls and slow down your opponent's spice production.

The airdrone also gives you a good aa-defence.

Whoops!

(Hint: Look at the bold.)
