I hope that you enjoy it, if you decide to read it. ;) I was hoping to attract the attention of some original participants. Those that are still around, anyway. Indeed it was designed with the assumption that others would join in, but it seems not to have worked out that way.

Edit: This week's update was a little late, but I actually ran it through a spellchecker this time. Yay.

Well, I know I don't write nearly as often here as I use to, but I do write. I'm actually a part time mod at a site called "The dead will walk." Despite its ominous name is not only a writing site directed about the living dead. We also have general fiction, and science fiction going.

The stories are free write (pretty much what we did here on fed2k)

And a more D&D based system with Char sheets and GMs' and die and all that good stuff. It sounds complicated, but honestly its not. Were always looking for good writers, so come here and check it out

http://thedeadwalk92428.yuku.com/directory

And here's a link to my section, where we find a particular creepy picture and try to write a story upwards or more of 1,000 words on it. We have a poll at the end of the date for whoever had the best story.

Here's the newest one

Meh. I thought about it some more, and decided I can't be arsed. (And besides, chanilover did a partial parody over on Jacurutu that makes additional commentary seem like adding legs to the snake. ;) )

Just a few small pointers, which will hopefully be taken in the spirit given, which is somewhat constructive:

arnoldo, teach your spelling checker the Dune names so you don't look even more ignorant. (It's Kralizec, not Krazilec, and Qelso, not Quelso.)

Look up "manifesto". It doesn't mean what you seem to think it does. Most people would sojourn IN a desert, not ON one. Antediluvians were people who lived before the Flood; how they could visit the Delphic Oracle is beyond me. The Ancient Greeks would have called words logoi.

The Golden Path was not a path you could walk on.

If I were a Paulian wingnut like yourself (albeit much taller and more intelligent), I would most likely find this latest... output of yours quite offensive. As it is, though, I applaud your attempt, however laughable and despite the failure it turned out to be, at joining two fictional universes. :)

DK and Dante: Awesome posts in Warlords, as always. The bit about spiders stepping like kittens had my imagery going wild though... I thought about the spiders' feet walking with impaled kittens.

Just thought I'd share that :D

Anyway, what would everyone think about a Watchmen/Kick-Ass thread? Basically, a subsection of the population get fed up with rampant crime and a faulty judicial system, put on capes and masks, and try to do something about it.

Truth is, the spiders are walking on kittens. Each one places a foot on the back of a tiny silver tabby, so that the arachnid is carried everywhere by eight kittens. If you think it's scary to be charged by a spider the size of a car, imagine how much more frightening it would be if the spider is completely silent and not moving its legs.

I'm interested in the Watchmen/Kick-Ass idea. Haven't read the latter, but the former was brilliant. Ordered Dragoon to read it, and he's obliged by ordering a copy along with V for Vendetta, which is awesome beyond words.

Spiders on kittens = awesome.

I haven't actually read Kick-Ass, but I did see the film. The name is perfectly appropriate (I should find out when it is coming out on DVD). I just recently saw V for Vendetta again, and it was fun, though I think the actual graphic novel would probably be better. I should see whether the local library has a copy (they have quite the graphic novel selection), and of the Jack the Ripper novel....

I think I saw that in the bookshop one time. Was expensive, or at least I assume so since I didn't buy it.

V for Vendetta is amazing, almost worth a topic in itself to discuss it. While the movie did not stay true in many respects (I hear Alan Moore officially dismissed it, along with every other film of his works save perhaps Watchmen), it gains points simply by having the 1812 Overture in it. That was a pretty amazing finale.

No spoilers please, for Dragoon's sake. ;)

I haven't read or seen Kick-Ass, but I may look into it, depending on availability and pricing. Unfortunately, I don't believe my local library has much of a graphic novel selection. Last time I checked it was limited to Asterix and Tintin, both of which are good but they rather lack the depth of a Moore.

Yeah Moore didn't really like the Watchmen film either, which is kind of a shame since it's pretty much exactly like the graphic novel (except the pirate story, the octopus, and the various things leading up to the octopus storyline-- I don't think this is a spoiler, at least, not anymore).

I don't know British libraries (I never went into any of the ones while I was in Ireland, something I regret strongly now). The US public library system is probably one of the best instances of socialism here, although there is a lot of variability in availability. My opinion is that either someone in town or in the library itself is a big graphic novel fan, and therefore there is a much larger selection here than elsewhere.

I just recently saw an older compilation of the Sandman graphic novels (I spend a lot of time in a bookstore) for like $80, used.

Ah, libraries.

TRINITY-COLLEGE-LIBRARY-DUB%20().jpg

If only they could all be like that.

$80 is... not bad, really. I'm not sure how much I paid for my collection (new) but it was more than that.

Thinking about the topic, given that most people who aren't taking part in the new warlords cite lack of time, and those that are doing so devote a lot of time to it, I imagine that the Watchmen/Kick-Ass thread (we're going to need a better name for it) will be shorter, less narrative-like. Shorter posts, more in the style of the old threads.

Then there's the question of plot. Thoughts?

Really awesome battle sequence! I'm excited to see what comes next :)

Regarding Watchmen/Kickass, yeah, I've given it a little bit of thought, and I'm not sure at this point. Really, I just don't know that I would have time to keep a storyline progressing. One thing I was thinking about was the idea of one or more heroes banding together to create an actually working rehabilitation system, and others (for example, the police and other costumed heroes) fighting against that. Kind of the same slant as Watchmen (and to a less degree, Kickass) in that it asks the question, how far should a "hero" go to protect society/the people/the peoples' best interests? In other words, what's more important: an individual's freedom or the perpetuation of society?

"We're good for now, at least." Dragoon said, standing up and dusting off his jeans.

"Just ignore any residual wailing." Dante nodded. "It'll pass when the echoes die down."

"I suppose this means we should get back to more important things." noted Dragoon, sitting down in his chair.

"We can clearly multitask."

"Yes... well how about we start preparing for the next batch of bullshit?"

"Best just to observe now. Wait quietly."

Dragoon peered through the portal. The textbook that Dante had hidden earlier had come loose in the commotion, so that part of the spine was visible. Tracking his friend's gaze, Dante quickly tucked the book away.

"Mill-?" Dragoon's question began.

"MILLS." Dante interjected. "I LOVE MILLS."

"Mills?"

"Mills."

At least your Fanfic increased the number of postings for you and your friend in northern Britain.

Well, I suppose my Christian friends in the non-Forum world were correct. As I have spoken about this Forum with them, and particularly your time in it, I thought you might be open-minded. But--you don't want to change, and probably never will.

I thought they might be wrong -- but they were right.

I think you'll find that now that I understand this point, that I will probably never mention the topic of homosexuality again -- just like all of my postings in 2009 and the first half of 2010.

Take care.

Was there any need to bring this up?? If you've got such a problem, keep it to private messages.

Are you upset that I identified to the 'writing duo' that Dragoon and Dante are both from the same town in Scotland, or...

Should I just keep my mouth shut that they write near porn about me, since I 'dared' to have a serious dialog and debate about homosexual rights?

I don't think he cares about that at all, Liar. I think he's upset because, once again, you've breached both forum convention and general common etiquette by remarking about a personal dispute in an inappropriate manner. And, guess what: this whole, absolutely hilarious summary of what you did in the PRP board isn't "porn." Your attempts to characterize yourself as some sort of "victim" are obvious, meaningless and hollow. You espoused horrifically discriminatory and offensive views, and you espoused them poorly, emotionally, and pathetically. You deserved ridicule. You got it in a section that allowed for it. Deal with it. Stop being a crybaby, and shut up, or put up. Stop wasting time on here and be a good father and hang out with your kids--maybe then they'll stop having premarital sex or something. Who knows.

Wolfie... back from where-ever (over-use of hyphen) you've been.

I'm talking about Dragoon's writings about me.

Not me, of the wholesome-minded; but of my neighbors Dragoon and Dante.

Since I am a fast writer, and have most of what I refer to, memorized; my posts usually only require 5-8 minutes -- so I have plenty of time for my children. Thank you for your concern about them.

One thing I will say for Eras, his views (and responses to them) certainly lit up PRP for a while. Not bad for a one-track pov.

They are the traditional views of the New Testament. It shows how controversial, true Christianity can be.
