VigilVirus
My final answer once again is and I said it before Ethan in reply #41:[hide]It has no indentation and indentation is what defines a paragraph. Therefore it is very strange for a paragraph[/hide]

emprworm
man, you guys are too good. This riddle lasted barely a few hours! Apollyon, nicely done. Ok, the next riddle is going to be a bit more difficult then.SPOILER (answer! dont read unless you want to ruin the riddle)[hide] As apollyon pointed out, there is not one instance of the letter 'e' in that paragraph- English's most common vowel. That is indeed highly unusual.[/hide]

emprworm
OK. For the last few days, people have been solving my riddles too quickly. Its now time to up the ante a bit. I am increasing the level of difficulty. If this turns out to be too hard, I will make them easier, but lets find out how good you guys are.GOOD LUCK!EMPRWORM'S RIDDLE #6The Robot DuelThe tale is told of a futuristic duel of 3 robots facing each other off armed with an old fasioned revolver. The robots will each take a turn to fire their guns, trying to hit the CPU of another robot (thus destroying it). The last robot standing is the victor. What makes this tale so interesting is that each robot is programmed a bit differently when they try to hit a target. Robot #1 is only able to hit his target 30% of the time. Robot #2 can hit his target 50% of the time, while Robot #3 will never miss- he will always hit his target. To make things fair, Robot #1 will get the first shot, followed by Robot #2, and finally Robot #3. They will continue to fire in this order, until there is only 1 left. Each robot is programmed to have a will to live and will strategize to maximize his odds of living when it comes to his turn to fire.Robot #1 is first. What should his first move be, why, and what are his odds of survival?
VigilVirus
[hide]Shoot at the one that never misses - or else he has no chance of sirvival - the one that can't miss would kill him afterwardsChances - if he hits - 25% if he misses - 13%Average - 19%Am I right?[/hide]
sneezer3
[hide]Well it depends on the area in wich the fight is takeing place. And what area each bot is in.What if Robot #1 where to fire then hide behind a rock & take the highland. For Robot 1# first move RUN! hide behind something Take cover!Robot 2%s Best move then would be to fire at 3 otherwise he'd be a goner! and he would have a better chance of hitting him then Robot 1# hiting Robot 2So what exactly are you wanting to know here?[/hide]
emprworm
sneezer, there are no rocks to hide behind. assume robots are in a locked cage, they aren't getting out-- except for 1.
VigilVirus
Was I close?
Andrew
[hide]robot # 1 will shoot robot # 3. 30% chance of hitting robot 3. best chance of survival.chance of survival is 20%.[/hide]
Acriku
[hide]Shoot the #3 and if hit, it gives you 50% chance of survival, if miss then remains at 75%. [/hide]

Falconius
[hide]Robot1 will shoot at robot3 since if he destroy robot2, robot3 WILL destroy him.Robot1 know robot2 WILL shoot at robot3 for the same reason.Robot3 WILL shoot at robot2 when his turn comes to increase his chance. So robot1 will shoot twice at robot3and robot2 will shoot once at robot3so robot1's chance of survival is at least 50%robot2's chance is exactly 50%and robot3's chance depend if he survive being shot at 3 timesso it is at most 50%[/hide]
