Hello,

I am new to the forums but have been playing Dune 2000 for a while now, and I am at the point where I am looking for new campaigns/missions.  I have checked through the forums, but I see a lot of WIP, mods, etc., that I am not sure about.  Please let me know if there are campaigns or missions that are good.

I don't see a sticky so if there is one, or a post that I missed, I apologize.

Thank you!

I have done plenty of campaigns and missions full release on the forum; those posts are old and anybody said anything on them anymore, so now they are in the fifth page being a bit hard to find between the other stuff. My signature have the list of all the stuff I have done and most of them can be found in the d2kplus (link on my signature too) but here I am going to do a few recommendations.

Being good or bad may depend on personal test, but people overall enjoy my campaigns. I can show you a list of post presenting several of my campaigns here:

A new house: This is the first campaign I ever made; so you can start with this one if you want, being inspired by the originals, not too hard but at least multiple objetives here and there like destroy X specific building something will happen and similar stuff, but overall all the maps it's base vs base just like the originals.
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/26786-release-a-new-house-campaign-for-dune-2000/

Dune 2 based: three campaigns (one per faction) heavily inspired on the original Dune 2 game. The spice it's limited, the are no rifts or bottle necks, the briefing, reinforcements and position of enemies are a 1:1 copy from the original game, so this it's like taking the main ideas of Dune 2 but playing them in dune 2000 (with the current dune 2000 tech, so Atreides still build troopers, Harkonnen builds trikes, etc...)
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/27503-release-dune-2-based-campaign-for-dune-2000-old-campaign-rearrange/

Spacing guild: Campaign based on the spacing guild faction. In some maps buying stuff from the starport it's more cheaper than usuall, or the frigate takes less time to arrive. This only affect my maps and not the original campaign or other people maps.
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/27229-release-spacing-guild-campaign-for-dune-2000/

Fremen Campaign: A unique campaign; here you play as Fremen but you can't build any base. The maps are always about using Fremen and doing stealth type of works, or defending your ally X time. But you never harverst spice or build any tank, just use a group of Fremen and that's it.
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/26896-release-new-campaign-fremen-dune-2000/

Frank Herbert: This campaign it's inspired by the first Dune novel. More or less follow the plot of the book, using a few names as Jessica Atreides, Paul Atreides, Gurney Halleck, etc... (just a few names, it's not needed to read the book to know the main plot of this campaign). The first map presents you the Gom Jabbar; other maps are things from the book too and others some a small invention of mine to include a base vs base map although in the book that didn't really happen, just to fill with more action.
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/27344-release-frank-herbert-custom-campaign-for-dune-2000/

Butlerian Jihad: A based campaign on the Butlerian Jihad that Frank Herbert reference on his books. The idea it's that the factions are using an AI to help them in the war but in the end the AI start figthing on his own against their former masters. This is a though campaign. So if you are not a good player I recommend to playing it on easy or skip this one until you are more skilled.
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/26997-release-new-campaign-butlerian-jihad/

Ordos's Tactics: An Ordos campaign using multiple tactics: Defending one ally, giving money to that ally, using the deviator to deviate enemy harverster to win more money, using the saboteur to take out the building that will make the rest of the map much more easy, etc...
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/27469-release-ordoss-tactics/

The origin of the Mercenaries: A campaign that tells (non-officially) how the mercenaries were born. Starting as smuggler with not enough profit, the player will join several factions becoming mercenaries since then. Here you are always more weaker that the enemy, so most the time you need a ally to protect yourself and your goal it's to take an easy objetive instead destroying always enemy bases (or if you need to destroy a enemy base your ally will help on that task).
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/27542-release-mercenary-campaign-the-origin-of-the-mercenaries/

Harkonnen Family: The baron sends his two sons: Gunseng and Rakan to defeat some lessers enemies that appeared in Arrakis (controled by the Baron). You'll fight alongside your brother in the early levels, helping each other, and then the two brothers are strong enough to do stuff on their own.
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/27600-release-harkonnen-family-dune-2000-campaign/

Heretic alliances: A campaign where you always will have at least 1 active ally; You start with the Fremen as ally, seeing how they actually increase his army and send attacks to the enemy. Then things happens and other alliances that nobody could think of appears. Only one team will win.
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/27655-release-heretic-alliances-dune-2000-custom-campaign/

And this it's not even my final form! but being serius; this it's not my full list of campaigns I have done. I still have several more and I didn't mention any single map yet.

To play all this stuff you need to use the mission launcher. If you don't have it I can help you to obtain; Funky have it in the forum somewhere which include a good amount of custom campaigns and map (a few of the campaigns includes are the ones from here, althoug not all of them are included yet). If needed I'll search that post for you.

I have a few campaigns that change what the player can build. Sardaukar without the Imperial Palace, Stealth Raider with Fremen weapons (so much more stronger than the current practice), but for now the campaigns listed above don't overwrite anything from the original game, so you can be sure that your vanilla game it will remain intact with any of my mods listed above.

In case you prefer to try some of my single missions to see what to expect of my work I recommend one of these three single maps:
The Rebellion of Atreides: being my very first map done
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/27359-release-the-rebellion-of-atreides-single-mission/

EBFD: Ancient Rivalries: based on the type of map on the game "Emperor Battle for Dune". you and your enemy builds the base by deploying an MCV and then there is a subplot which you can interfere or not.
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/27369-release-ebfd-ancient-rivalries/

Mercenaries - Choose your ally: a single concept where it's the player, and not the game, the one that choose what factions you'll join. Depending of your choice, your initial money will be different, and the reinforcements you receive will be bigger or smaller depending of the side you are playing with.
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/27364-release-mercenaries-choose-your-ally-single-mission/

Those are single maps, From the "doing multiple objetives", the "practice/skirmish type with sub-objetives" and "base vs base" you can see the variety of my missions.

Again, in case you don't have the mission launcher, you are not using it or you have no idea what it's the mission launcher I'll help you out since the mission launcher allow to us to have all the stuff I listed above placed together in a single folder and playing whatever we want when we want. Just double clicking the icon and 4 clicks later I am already playing my mission 1 of my "X Custom campaign"; that easy.

Ps: Mission launcher works in the vanilla dune 2000 too.

Hello DM1977, welcome to Arrakis!

In addition to what the post above me said, if you want an all-in-one pack, which includes HD resolution, CnCnet integration (allow you to play online with other people), and 50+ custom fan-made missions, check out Gruntsmod edition of Dune 2000.

About specific campaign, I suggest the Ix campaign, Merc campaign, and WOA campaign by AkaFedaYkin, which is quite similar to original campaign.

For more advanced stuff, Cm_blast's campaigns, especially later works, have more unique objectives, well-made terrain, simple plot. They are easier than AkaFedaYkin's campaigns IMO though.

For extremely complex campaign, check out Fey's smuggler campaign, decent plot with twist, fairly challenging toward the end.

I believe you will enjoy them all. There are more, of course. If you're interested, I can find links for you.

If you want to create mission yourself, feel free to ask anything.

You have my attention. What could be the final form of Cm_blast's campaign?

WIP campaigns are nice too. You can test maps for folks and help them improve for release! I'm even upgrading my released campaign every now and then, and Runtowin still needs help with his own mercenary campaign. You can get a feel for mapping by playing WIP campaigns and gain experience with what to do and what not to do. Or, rather, what you want to do and what you find isn't such a good idea after all. It's all up to you.

Cm is a mapping monster and I highly recommend any of his campaigns. Feda's awesome too and has some campaigns integrated in the Mission Launcher. Of course, I recommend my smugglers campaign! And, you will find that the Harkonnen missions released so far for my WIP Harkonnen campaign are more straightforward and have been recently polished up, minus one game-breaking bug on H3V2 I have yet to fix because busy.

Whatever you decide to do, have fun! And if you feel up to it, feedback's always nice to hear. Thanks.

Thank you for all of this info, I have had the gruntmods Dune 2000 for a few years now so I'll check out those additional missions you presented to me.

Look, here there are the pack with the mission launcher and 95+ extra missions and any file necessary to play without trouble (in case your version of gruntmod it's missing something).
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/26661-dune-2000-106p-game-patching-bug-fixes-new-features/

Some of my campaigns are there, like the new house, the spacing guild and the Fremen warriors; If you are going to try one of mine I suggest one of those three, which have more or less three styles: Clasical base vs base (and other objetives too), big-prebuilded base and bending some in-game rules, or being a master of the stealth, respectively. But if you want to go with caution "new house" it's the best to start with.

I was refering the fact that I only show him partially my work, not all my mods (I excluded the ones that uses Tibed and similar). But I am already exploring a couple of ideas more, so who knows what I'll do next :P.

You might have a very old version of Gruntmods. I suggest you reinstalling the new one from his website. The "check for update" button in Gruntmods launcher won't work the last time I checked.

I have version 1.6.2.2, is this the latest version?

Yes. I have the same version, and with the problem I had with the computer I needed to download again gruntmods on november of so, so I have the game recently at least :P.

By the way; I didn't mention it; but there are also some campaigns that were done early, much before the mission launcher were created. To play those was needed to overwrite the originals, so you choose "new game - Atreides" but instead the original map appears the custom one.

Those were made by multiple authors and are available on the d2plus site, but I took the efford to reupdate those campaigns to be compatible with the mission launcher (no more overwrite needed). The campaigns are simple with classic "destroy X faction" most the time, but if you want to play a straigh foward type of maps I can suggest a few of them:

-The Atreides by Akafeda & Iheb96: it's simple, just early 1 vs 1 maps, then 2 vs 2, and then 3 vs 3 increasing the tech the most levels you play. Hard in lasts missions.
-Emperor Mission by Shai-Gel98: Player being the imperial with an ally vs several enemies. a simple map and easy, but for the first time I could play as imperial.
-Ordos Campaign by Magier: like the original campaign but a bit more harder and with some more objetives.
--Smuggler campaign by Rick Vorstenbosch: early missions are original concepts, and then the game become a X vs Y war, with more allies and enemies the more missions you play.

I only mentioned those that are more straigh to play, here it is the link:
https://forum.dune2k.com/topic/27422-updating-and-rearranging-missionscampaigns-from-d2k/

To know more about the others enter d2kplus.com (but download my updated version. It's the only one that works with the mission launcher).
