D2K+ Pre-Production Info

Hi everyone, recently I asked Jason Redway, one of the artists on Dune 2000 to share his experiences of the Dune 2000 development process. Not only did he provide some really interesting information but he also sent pre-production artwork and promotional pitch video that Intelligent Games sent to Westwood.

It's really fascinating to see, very many thanks to Jason for it.

Check it out at D2K+

Thanks Jason. Bad resolution images lacking detail (hmm very compressed images?) and early stage of work but still very useful for new ideas. As

I have previously said Dune 2000 has very bright sand. Good for contrast with rocks but bad for eyes when using a CRT. Seems they preferred what looked better than the health of customers. That darker sand could be less saturated and would be fine. IMO the color of the rocks in those early shots is out. But they give some nice ideas for additions in a future patch. Once again thanks a lot!

For mission files, to quote the wiki "Due to time restrictions, mission files were compiled in as an approach to very simple scripting."

I'm not sure how the original maps were created, Jason might know.
