D2k Sardaukar
Hi, I have been trying to recreate that Dune 2000 background music ambience. I have added a short music file to this post that shows, I think, a decent beginning. I'm rather new to this stuff (software, music composition and all) so it will take some time before I'm compositing a total "song". The example .mp3 doesn't contain a lot of rhythm yet, it's more like fancy sounds put together showing the possibilities. I'm really enjoying making music with the editor, so I'm going to try a whole composition. What music title from Dune 2000 do you think I should recreate and what style should I give it? You can be as creative crazy as you like with the style, because for almost every feeling there is a sound available. Maybe more spooky, spacy, techo, drum, iron age, fluffy, jazzy... etc...? If you got some cool idea's, just share them, maybe I will make it into a whole 'song' (that is around 4min). Links to example sounds that you like and want to share are also welcome! D2k Sardaukar
I used Ignite (by Air) with a M-Audio Keystation Mini 32 (that's a keyboard). I was thinking about using LMMS (free MIDI software), but so far Ignite has been good to me.

D2k Sardaukar
I made another background song in 2013 but never finished it, I might as well share what I got. :)Remember it's background music for in the game, it's not supposed to be extremely melodic and happy and all. :P Troubled Sand.mp3

athanasios
Can you work/add a bit more on it? It sounds 'barebones'. Somewhere you hear only the drums. Needs more there.

X3M
The second one sounds indeed a fitting tune to Dune2000. Maybe you can try to copy the style of the 3 races. When you heard the music of EBfD. You know which ones belong to which race in Dune2000. But your post is over 2 years ago, do you still work on it?
D2k Sardaukar
I have been working 2 years non-stop on it. :P Nah, I haven't worked on it, other stuff has higher priority, besides it takes many years to get good at making music, time I don't have. I never really played EBfD. The movie Interstellar also has some amazing (space) music, it however does not fit Dune 2000 I think.
X3M
You can listen to the music on Youtube. The symbol of the race is there. And the title of the song.
Dark Wesker
I do not want to create a new topic. Therefore i'm writing here (if i can). I just wanted to share new or not new music extended. You can download the .aud files right away and put to the dune 2000 game (music folder). If you like and want it. * The music speed is not normal (original). House Harkonnen slower because it has a heavy and powerful technique. The Ordos and Atreides faster speed. Other music slower and faster. Music: 1. For House Atreides (Original Red Alert 3 - Desertion) Extended - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CdYLMQ-dfs 2. Atreides Unstoppable (Original Red Alert 3 - How the West was Won) Extended - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNi3iVcWllY 3. For House Harkonnen (Original Red Alert 3 - For Mother Russia) Extended - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InE5NyOD2XI 4. Harkonnen Crush You Extended (Original Fairy Tail - Muteki no Azuma) Extended - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgXcKzHZl7A 4.2. Harkonnen Crush You V2 (better) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmjoZj7L-gM Download 5. For House Ordos Extended (Original Red Alert 3 - Crisis in Cuba) Extended - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9-1nNdFFow 6. Ordos never give up - (Original Red Alert 3 - East Moves West) Extended - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hoiBc1w-Vo Extra music 1. Action Extended - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjMfAKieZE4&t=5s or my Ordos mission 2 V1 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REgyKCi5sOo 2. Fighting Ghost (TV series "Arrow"), no video, original - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h_4z5vmljE Everything works for me - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQkIv4LO7vM Download My hobby is to make music extended. If you want I can extend the original music (no change speed). But i can't upload to youtube everything. And sorry for english. stefanhendriks
late to the party, the first song is 0 bytes, couldn't listen to it. The 2nd song worked, I was pretty impressed. I looked up this Ignite tool and keyboard thing. Wonder if it would be hard to create such music Perhaps you could upload them to youtube? (preserve them for mankind ;-))

(preserve them for mankind ;-)) I re-uploaded the song. It is not that great, the second song is better. To be honest, it are not really songs, more background sounds during construction that should not distract too much. I got new software, perhaps I can try to just recreate the original songs. I got no musical skills and no original instruments/sounds so nothing to lose. 🙂 Which song should I try to recreate? Example OST list on youtube to listen to: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL166CF5C4ABE55CF1 Attack on Arrakis Enter the Ordos Fight for Power Harkonnen Battle Land of Sand Plotting Rise of Harkonnen Robotix Spice Scouting The Ambush The Atreides Gain The Fremen The Waiting Game Under Construction

Under Construction has always been my favourite. I tried to recreate this soundtrack and boy I did not succeed. Well, the first part I think is okay, but the second faster part with the bass guitar is not do-able for me. I spend almost two days trying to get that tune/effect, but I couldn't. 🙂 So here is only the first (boring) part of Under Construction recreated, I call it: Under New Construction.mp3 Perhaps I will also try other soundtracks, because it is a lot of fun. X3M
Maybe you can do something with slower and higher record speeds?
stefanhendriks
Sounds awesome to me. I also have Ignite and such a keyboard. The only thing I made was a short remake of the Dune 2 intro (I believe it is linked somewhere on this forum). The downside is that Ignite does not allow to change tempo during the song. Nevertheless it is cool to create music with that, it is pretty intuitive.
