Mr_Hangman
I can't beat it. I can get past the infantry attacks easily at the beginning but I never last much longer. I have trouble getting enough spice and if I spend money on refineries I can't defend my base. Later on they both become a problem. I think the problem must be my building order. I've looked at several guides but I need something different or more detailed. I have tried many times and I'm getting irritated, I'd really appreaciate help. jacobdouds
You'll find that you may be spending money to fast. Start of with smaller units.
gryphon
Look at a similar post in "Dune 2000 general strategy" :)
Mr_Hangman
Gryphon I think the one you are talking about is one I posted, I posted here since it seemed more popular and because I still didn't win with the advice there. gryphon
Ok :)What kind of defence do you build around your base ?
Mr_Hangman
When I can afford it I build a few gun or rocket turrets, but I can't get many units because I usually don't make enough money. If I start building lots of refineries my harvestors are targeted and I lose. Like I said if someone can suggest a good building order that might help. Timenn
Idea:Windtrap :PBarracks + TroopersRefineryFactory (Heavy) + Tanks (Combat?)Refinery + Harvesters (7 in total for 2 refinerys)Turrets + TanksHigh Tech Factory/Starport + Carryalls (dozens of them)Turrets + Tanks etc.Palace + Repair Pad finally... gryphon
I agree with timenn.2 Refinery's and about 8 harvesters should do the money trick.
Timenn
With alot of carryalls. Otherwise the harvesters lock up somewhere... I build so many that I can't see my base anymore. And when I need to repair a whole army and send them back, they all are picked up by a carryall. If you need silo's... Don't build them but build/order carryalls! ;D
gryphon
Yep, with carryalls a harvester is mutch faster transported from your base to your harvest field.Silo's what are those ;D ( you can also buy tanks from CHOAM in stead of carryalls )Sometimes it's nice to play a game, and when you know you've more than enough units you build a silo-field and start storing spice. You can have a lot more Solari ni Dune 2000 than ni Dune II ;D
Timenn
I spill my money always. I build 5 Mcv to be wormfood ;D ;D, or as I said to order some carryalls. They are like insects ;D ;D ;D, it's good that there are no silo's anymore. They were only room-spilling...
gryphon
MCV's as wormbait ? Couldn't you just use a thumper-infantry ?[ btw. this is getting a verry collorfull treath :) ]
Timenn
Not in missions, and nice colors, yes ;DI now have the colors of sand and worms: sand-brown, first I had the color skyblue + a red glowing, but since gob removed the glowing :'( I use the wormcolor (=#CC9933)
Mr_Hangman
Thanks for your help... because of it I almost won. I was doing really good when the mercenaries quit on me. Every time I do good something else goes wrong.
Timenn
Don't worry about the mercenaries, they will only play a role in the last mission...
quoudam72
I find the mercs to be a real pain in the a$$ at times e.g. when your trying to build a merc unit will park on the concrete. Another problem with the mercs I dislike you can not coordinate your attacks together.
Baron_carl
it's true the mercenaries are annoying but use force fire on them if they get in the way!
Timenn
Good they have their own base in the last mission
OnAMission
If u just send a unit on suicide with the attack, it keeps them happy, their very helpful at the start of the g@me!
Timenn
Well, with Mission 9 they are defending the attacks of the enemy, in the meanwhile you can build up...
OnAMission
I find the mercs really useful at the start as they fend off most attacks. Problem is that the mercs don't replace buildings (i.e. turrets) and as soon as the mercs are wiped, u follow them soon after. Usually I place a couple of turrets to keep the mercs alive for a little longer. On the mission 8. My building order.wind trapbarracks (light and troopers, approx 20-30)refinerygun turret (behind concrete)(build this one to the right)Nother refinery further southOutpost (giving u acces to rocket turrets)concrete south and place 3 rocket turrets on the south east corner behind concrete this helps to twart harkonnen attacks.nother rocket turrert on eastheavy factory (don't build units)starport (now buy units)and so on.
