Gwizz
Yes our major University will give away free blinders if you will only look their way. They are planning to offer a free university education to graduating Seniors if the maintain a C average while in school. I was part of an educational study a few years back. I found most secondary teachers didn't give less than a C grade. They believed if the student did nothing in class and flunked all of the tests, the student by just being present learned enough to earn a C grade by listening to the teacher.Under socialism I guess that is all that is required. I'm a son of a retired 1st grade school teacher and one of my friends is a new school teacher (secondary level mathematics) in a mid-sized city. This doesn't happen. Students receive both good and bad grades as they earn them. It's just another republican myth so don't believe it. Besides, if everyone "earned" a C, the dropouts would be staying in school just to get a free lunch.--Ray.
thomasjordan
Ray:That isn't a "republican myth." Too many studies have documented it, and too many schools have formally instituted just such a policy.I'm not going to waste my time looking up the studies for you. You can get to at least some professional studies at:www.lib.umich.edu
maddog
That isn't a "republican myth." Too many studies have documented it, and too many schools have formally instituted just such a policy. It's a "republican myth" because they cut education, then complain about education being so bad. A self-fulfilling prophecy. They should invest in education, rather than punish failing schools with bad legislation like "No Child Left Behind" which did more hurt to bad schools than it ever did to help them. Good schools still did well and bad schools still did poorly only the bad schools were punished rather than fixed.Granted both my friend and my mother work(ed) in rather good schools. My mother is now retired and only rarely had to fail a child (sign of a great teacher!) My friend is required to have parent-teacher meetings. The idea is to stop children from failing the whole grade but sometimes it still happens. --Ray.
Gwizz
I'm starting to think that Obama is more dangerous to the US than Hitler was to Germany.Obama already is talking about starting a private civilian security force with power equal to that of the US army. He said he does not have to obey the constitution because he feels it is flawed.

Sorry Gwizz, This is just fear mongering. Don't let them do this to you. Don't believe everything you read from any media outlet with a political agenda.Besides, it was probably some out-of-context semi-quote where Obama said, "We should encourage our young men and women to join the Peace Corpse" which was then twisted into that.--Ray.
