Martin_and_Gadha_250081artw.jpg

Saw this video on CBC national last night. Oh the hilarity.

In photo is Paul Martin who was Canadas Liberal Prime Minister at the time. Ouch. And tonight they are talking about it. Back in 2004. Martin talked today: wants no fly zone, ban on weapons exports, sanctions, international court.

@athanasios

I watched youtube video in your last post. So are the police protecting something or trying to contain protestors? What was going on in these situations? Is this particular confrontation over something specific?

CBC had a piece on Athens protests.

People of Keratea have revolted as government wants to create a landfill there for the whole east Attica (~2.000.000 people). Police is protecting the area and the property of the contractors. Nobody wants the landfill there, neither does the whole city of Athens. Keratea is an out of the city suburb, near the sea and many low income people have summer houses there. A landfill there would ruin many people's summer vacations and pollute the environment. Besides the area is an archaeological site, thus the landfill is really illegal. Of course with bribed courts and officials everything appears 'legal', but even taking that into consideration, there is an expiration date for the project as in EU all such landfills will have to close after 2 years time. So you can understand that wasting public money for only 2 years of operation is a big scandal to proceed. It will only serve the pockets of the big contractors and the corrupted politicians, judges, etc whop are 'listed' in their 'payroll'. And it is not that there are not other options available: Like what is happening in other large cities, garbage can be transferred to nearby uninhabitable islands, and we have plenty of such uninhabitable bare islands around Athens. Actually such a place would also be ideal for further processing of garbage.

Now as regards the riots in the center of Athens keep in mind that the police was preordered to cause trouble as to break the protest in order to avoid any 'Egypt' style events: aka protesters occupying the square, and that is unconstitutional: It is forbidden to prevent someone from protesting. But we do not have democracy anymore so law and constitution are applied only when it suits the dictators...

From Libya battlefront:

The mad dictator even had his mercenaries enter hospitals and execute the wounded people. Then corpses were taken to clear evidence whereas doctors where threatened not to speak.

The airport constructed by USA in Libya in 1943 (base Wheelus) and used unofficially till now, is now used by the mad dictator to transfer mercenaries to kill his own people.

Who is Mussa Kussa, the minister of Foreign Affairs:

the leader of execution forces of Libya acting abroad.

organizer of dissappearences of politicians and diplomats like Mansur Kikhia.

cooperating with CIA (Ben Bonk) and other countries secret services.

offerer of hit men services for executions in North America, North Africa and Europe.

According to reports, Saif al-Arab, Gaddafi's youngest son, joined forces with the demonstrators.

Is revolution to spread on Europe?

If you do not stand up now, we will be responsible for history, people will look back and wonder - how a nation could afford this criminal government to happen.

We urge you to tear down the government because we do not have any other choice. We have nothing to loose, situation cant be worse than this.

Every day 500 people are losing their jobs, and the refime is laughing at us and mocking us. Citizens are on their knees, the banks every day take away people's homes and confiscate wages and pensions. Insolvency is record high, small companies can no longer operate. Finding a job has become a mission impossible. 30,000 young people with university diploma are unemployed, and the same fate awaits others who will soon finish their schooling. HRT (Croatian national television) as a public broadcaster does not exist anymore, everything is censored.

This is not a political issue, this is a question of survival of our country and all people who live in it. The government simply has to fall, every new day in power is only one step further towards the bottom. Nobody has to be a prophet to predict where Kosor (Croatian prime minister) is leading us, the politics of HDZ (ruling party) along with all of its coalition partners has been the same for the last 20 years.

We are at the brick wall, we find ourselves in a corner and if you do not do something soon what follows is debt bondage, introduction of new taxes and a final fall of the middle class. The same one that has been systematically destroyed and exploited in the interest of political and financial elite . Do not be afraid of them, they are minority – we are the majority !

From the Libya battlefront:

The time for the mad dictator is over.

Revolutionary council is preparing forces to liberate the capital, which the mad dictator doesn't fully control anymore.

The State: Italy suspended a treaty with Libya that includes a nonaggression clause.

2 or 3 Greek frigates, and not only, are heading for Libyan waters.

(Officially they claim that it is for supporting the evacuation of the foreigners), but it is evident that NATO is planning an invasion to get rid of the mad dictator if things don't turn out as they expected or at least provide support for the revolutionary council forces.

So, the mad dictator bombed his own country and threatens to counter attack the 'allies' (NATO). Crete is the most possible target, due to proximity. Will S-300 prove successful to stop his rockets? Cretans are really worried as their ability has never been tested.

In the meantime, yesterday 2 armed apache helicopters were sighted over Crete. Of course the previous days more and more allied fighters, beside the carriers (used to transfer citizens from Libya), landed on Crete. Even China and South Korea are sending warships in the area.

EU Arms Exports to Libya

Massacre in Az Zawiyah. If revolution forces succeed to hold the city for a couple of days Tripoli will remain without fuel and the game will be over for the mad dictator as his army will become immobilized. About 30 'allied' warships in the area, about 600 marines already invaded Libya.

Yet another made in USA solution, I assume. It is all set up.

The mad dictator has the top hand right now, revolution forces are retreating and the cities will probably fall in a couple of days, unless, like a Messiah, NATO intervenes and finishes him at the last moment totally 'enslaving' the revolutionaries.

Now the facts:

The mad dictator called the moron.

3 of his private jets have left Libya:

Al Jazeera reports that three of Gaddafi’s private planes have taken off from a military air strip in Tripoli in three different directions. ”One is suggested to be Vienna, the other is supposed to be Athens in Greece, and the other is Cairo, Egypt,” Maltan journalist Stango-Navarra said.

He added that nobody knows who is on board. Greek officials said that one jet flew briefly through Greek air space, heading for Egypt.

Greek air traffic controllers said two people on board were crew members but they were not identified ”It submitted a flight plan from Tripoli to Cairo and had two people on board but we don’t know who they are,” said an Athens air traffic controller who declined to be named.

Radio scanner FMC Netherlands added the following:

“Libyan Government 5A-DCN is the well known Falcon DA-900 heading to Cairo”

“Libyan Government 5A-UAC is a BD-700 / Bombardier BD-700-1A11 Global 5000 heading to Athena”

“Libyan Government 5A-UAA is a CL-300 / Bombardier BD-100-1A10 Challenger 300 heading to Vienna”

FMCNL later said the destinations of the airplanes are not confirmed.

One possible reason for the plane to Cairo could be to negotiate about the upcoming Arab League meeting, to which Libya is not invited, the Al Jazeera correspondent says.

AFP and Reuters report that an airport official has confirmed the landing of the plane in Cairo. The official told The Associated Press that the head of Libya’s logistics and supply authority arrived on a private jet Wednesday afternoon. Libyan embassy staff told Egyptian officials that Major Gen Abdul-Rahman bin Ali al-Saiid al-Zawi was carrying a message from Gaddafi.

Saudi troops in Bahrain to halt protests

It sure in the <beep> is. The Saudis need to buy about $200 billion worth of US Treasury bonds at the April US Federal Bond auction. How can they do that if they are not in power?!?!
